Lesley

As it seems that he probably died in Scotland, the info about the GRO isn't applicable with regard to his death cert

You CAN buy his birth cert from there, to find out the full names of his parents - if you don't already have those details.

Have you looked in 'search trees' to see if anyone else is researching this family?

Scottish bmd info is much less readily available - they are much more aware of the rights of privacy of individuals

I too despair of people who speak to new (and some old) posters in such a disparaging way. How rude when people are trying to help. I would be quite glad if they, in their own words, did not renew when their subs expired.

Lesley I am pleased that somebody has been able to help you, I hope you find what you are looking for and can ignore any rudeness on here. :-)

Here, here Ann. It was totally unnecessary, vulgar, and way below the belt.
I too, in their own words, hope they, do not renew, when their subs are due.

Perhaps one of the helpful members who found her rellie could pm her and ask her to look at this thread again, in case she was scared to return.

Welcome to the boards Lesley

the finding ancestors board is best for requesting help in your search.
We usually just chat about anything and everything on the gen board.

once you find your way around the site , the easier it will become.

good luck in your search to find the resting place of your dad.
