A further development is that ........... I will not even be taking Tamoxifen!!

I got a phone call about 6 pm on Tuesday evening ago, from the doctor I saw on Monday.

Because of the very low risk that I've got, he had consulted with an oncologist. The oncologist thought my risk rate was close to 5%, rather than the 10% Voduc had been working on when making his suggestions.

Oncologist then worked out that I would get 1-2% benefit from taking tamoxifen, balanced against a 1% increased risk of blood clot and 1% increased risk of uterine cancer ..... plus the hot flashes.

Basically the risks are almost outweighing the benefit in my case.

Both of them decided that they would be comfortable if I decided not to take tamoxifen.

So that is what I have decided.

My treatment now is 6 monthly physical examination by my GP.

:-D :-D :-D

Even better than Sylvia, no nasty side effects.

Hope your next examination continues to show no further problems.

Time to get on and enjoy life again,

Great news Sylvia. It is over ten years since my mastectomy, and I was given Tamoxifen after for the same reason as you. Had no noticeable side effects and have been discharged from the clinic altogether.
Have had to have my falsie changed because I have got smaller, thats all. Found i couldnt get on with the stick on ones, they just wouldnt stick on me! :-D
