Elephants made out of all sorts, one a coconut, I had hundreds but had to get rid of a lot when we moved here. I even carry a tiny one in my purse that my son gave me out of a cracker 40 years ago

I can't resist elephants. I have pictures, ornaments, cuddly ones, a CD rack with carved elephant heads, candles, a duvet cover, a throw, wooden ones, china ones, onyx ones, etc etc.
Rocks, Fossils and crystals too. These are currently in a large box awaiting glass shelves to display them on.
And I'm not a hoarder, lol :-S

Mine are made of all that you mentioned Cath, plus one that my son made me in pottery at school. I have books as well and have adopted two orphans who I pay towards every year. It's nice to know someone else loves elephants, I even have an elephant bell that my neighbour gave me, very big and heavy.

Caz, I love them, they are beautiful animals very much mistreated in the past (and I suppose present) by hunters and poachers. I would like to adopt one too, do you know of a website? :-D

YorkshireCaz

YorkshireCaz Report 8 Jun 2011 20:06

They are very intelligent animals and their lives run along the same time scale as ours as you most likely know. I am just about to go in the shower but I will look out the address for you tomorrow.

I don't really understand collecting but I do have far too many books. They are always acquired for the content and far too many are cookery books.

We have a friend who goes to every boot sale in the area (I don't because I would sooner saw my leg off with the bread knife). He often comes in with a couple more cookery books. Really I think he looks through and sees something he would like to eat and brings it in hoping I will be cooking it.

hello everyone, i collect blue glass vases or bottles that sit on top of my kitchen cupboards. i have filled all the space with about 20 so have no more room.

the blue is that lovely striking blue and i never tire of looking at it. someone gave me recently, two wine bottles in this blue and i found some thin taper candles to match them. my whole kitchen is blue and white with mosaic tiles above the work surface in different shades of blue.

before the bottles, i used to collect ceramic pigs not modern ones but 1960s and older from various antique and boot fairs. but once i reached 150 i had no room for them to display so gave most away after 20 years of collecting to local charity shop who were delighted with them.

in this house we just seem to collect paper for some reason, the amount of newspapers, magazines and junk mail fills our organic bin up every week, its incredible where it all comes from.

Oh I collect coins Rita *rattles piggy bank*

I put a stop to 'collecting' because as sure as eggs is eggs you end up with a home full of dust collectors by way of birthday and christmas presents and not neccessarily to ones taste but merely because one might have two of something or admire something and before you know it you have a guilty trip to the charity shop. :-0

edit. I do not collect eggs :-( :-D

Diamonds dahling diamonds. After all they are a gels best friend.

Preferable the pure white ones, not too keen on the black or yellow.

Saying that, if anyone wants to sling one my way, I wouldn't say no.

I collect royal memorabilia and proud of it.

By the way Sharron, I agree - too many books as well, though mainly history ones. My mum's fond of collecting cookery books too (also called Sharon!)
