~~ Jules in Wiltshire~~ Report 23 Apr 2011 09:20

Hi Guys, thank you for your messages...I have been to my doc and explained the situation, have also contacted my social worker but nothing seems to make any difference...All the council say is " we have over 14000 people on the waiting list".....

I will get put up to the highest band when i make a homeless app 4weeks before I have to be out of this house...It really doesnt give you much time to bid on anything...There doesnt seem to be any properties in Salisbury as that is where i want to stay as I know the area..There was a place this week but it was in a tiny village 6miles from Salisbury but i didnt bid on it as i would be isolated as I dont drive!!

Please could I ask you to keep your fingers crossed that something will come up before 25th June.....Thank you so much

Love Jules xx

Jules. My late mother always used to say that something crops up when you least expect it, and if you have patience, everything comes to those who wait.
PH I agree!!!!!!

Hi Guys...

I didnt get that bungalow i bid on last week, i was 3rd in the queue...I rang the council yesterday and the lady said that they havent looked at my OT assessment yet or the fact that i cant get upstairs etc...To say i was annoyed is an understatement, they have had the assessment for over 2weeks now....She said it will be looked at in the next couple of weeks!!!!

The person that got the bungalow didnt need a level access shower or ground floor accomodation!! The bidding starts again today but there is nothing for me except a bungalow in Amesbury which is not avaliable until the beginning of July..I have to vacate this house by 25th of June!! And if they havent looked at OT assessment yet I wont even be considered for it...

I guess my life was never meant to be easy...I'm feeling really down at the moment as I feel i'm hitting my head against a brick wall...

Jules x

PS..I knew my 5man tent would come in handy one day!!!

Well look on the bright side Jules, if you have a 5man tent you just need to be on the look out for 4men to fill it!! See? Every dark cloud has a silver lining!! xxx

Jules- can you get gp or a social worker to chase them up re the urgency of the situation? How about a local councillor - they can be very helpful.

Jules

Hopefully as the 25th approaches things will change for you and your priority will be higher to get you out of your challenging situation.

I know your priorities have to be assessed by your local authoriy but that does not stop you applying direct to some Housing Associations to see what they may have available.

Things do change Jules - one minute I was turned down for a flat and the next week I was able to go ahead with another Housing Association.

I'm sure you wont need that tent.

Regards

Vera

Still thinking of you Jules. A lot can happen before your "leave by" date.

I would be rather annoyed by the council too.
Could the person who did your OT Report phne up the cpouncil, to express their concerns. After all they trouble they have gone to, so that your needs to be met, the report seems to have been ignored.
I would be VERY annoyed if I was the said OT.

My grandsons (aged 6 and 7) love sleeping in a tent, perhaps they could keep you company.

Jules,Please do not worry that you will be out on the street.I work in a homeless hostel and if you have not had a successful bidding by your date to move on the council should put you in a hostel while you carry on bidding. Not nice but better than a pavement. What band are you on and priority date have they given you? Fingers crossed for you.

Hi Guys..

Well they have finally looked at my OT assessment but it hasnt made any difference to the banding im in!!
Bidding starts again on Thursday, so heres hoping..There was only 12 properties last week and most of them were first floor flats...No good for me as I cant do stairs still.....
I would really like to stay in Salisbury but I doubt very much that I will be as property here doesnt come up very often....Looks like I will be somewhere I dont know...I will find that hard as I dont like being somewhere I dont know or even like for that matter but I guess I dont have a choice really....
I'm starting to feel really down as i'm finding every day things hard, I still cant sleep upstairs so i'm still on the sofa and going to the loo in a bucket...Don't know what I will do when my neighbour goes away soon....

Anyway enough of me moaning.....x

Jules,
I hope your circumstances improve soon. While its an awful worry for you at the moment I'm sure something good will happen before 25th June.
You've certainly had a rotten time of it and deserve a change of luck.
We are all rooting for you, take care,
((((hugs))))

Jules - re the bucket - do ask your GP/District Nurse to borrow something more suitable. Admittedly you'd still have the emptying problem, but having to 'go' would be more dignified!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 2 May 2011 21:21

Somebody suggested the Red Cross,, they would help with a commode on lone I'm sure.

Meanwhile you are still in quarters, would the welfare there not advise you re the bucket problem?

Maybe you will need to be prepared to take what they offer, as long as it is a ground floor. Then it might be possible later on to do an exchange to an area more suitable.

ChrisofWessex Report 2 May 2011 22:50

Jules, I suggested it before - contact the Red Cross - you can get a commode on loan. When I came out of hospital OH had one already for me - in case I needed it but I never did.

District Nurse at surgwery should be able to help you if no Red Cross handy. Am sure neighbour would collect, better a commode than a bucket.
