I've really enjoyed getting to know people at meets and have attended several.
I don't drive, so sometimes it's a geographical reason why I don't go to more of them, .... I'm nearer to France than to London, tucked away in this bottom corner of the country, but I've been to Wales and Nuneaton and stayed with family or friends nearby.
My first ever meet was back in 2004, I think, in Winchester, where I didn't know a soul before that day and later near Cowes, Isle of Wight. Both of these were near cenres of family research, so I could combine a nice lunch with fact-finding too.

IT WASNT 5EXYS MEET BUT HE HAS BEEN ASKED TO TAKE OVER BECAUSE THE HOST IS UNWELL,AND AS ITS I THINK A COUPLE OF WEEKS AWAY HE ASKED IF ANYONE STILL INTRESTED,BUT DATE HAD TO BE LATER IN THE YEAR.

5exy, to me the whole Shrewsbury meet thing has looked like a wind up from the start. If you wanted it, you'd organise it.

Uggers for you & all others, The Shrewsbury meet is not a wind up, Shrewesbury meet was first started to be done by LADYLOLPUSSERCAT who asked to meet myself & Eeyor13, We did meet. While meeting up LLPC said she was not sure how to get a meet together or if her health would allow her to so. A few weeks later she asked if myself & Eeyore13 could take it over. We said ok if it would help. So I put a thread up asking if anybody was still interested? When would be the best time for a meet? Would you attend the meet?
No it’s not a wind up & all are welcome to attend.

There certainly has been no love lost in days gone by between LLPC and yourself...so it's hardly surprising when the meet thread went up that people had their own ideas of what was going on.

I'm not speaking for Uggers here of course...just myself...and the way it lookd to me.at the time..but fair play..if you've all buried the hatchet then more power to your elbow !!

hmm well that's not 'quite' how it was ...the meet thread was initially advertised and then pulled, with a lot of 'why' 'who' and ...'let's do it by Pm'...which DID look a little bit like people were being 'screened' for want of a better word...so i can see exactly what Uggers means...

however, since it was then re-advertised as 'open to all and welcome' I see no reason why everyone who said they might go shouldn't turn up :))

I have, as previously said, promised Cake (!) and to buy a certain person a drink if they turn up:)

Yes Muffy your right in that the meet was first done by LLPC she did not like me on here but i guess after meeting me & Eeyore13 she changed her mind. Point proven, Meeting people for real can be good.

RR when LLPC fist did the thread for the Shrewsbury meet yes it was done behind closed doors by PM, My guess is so many things have been said about me (not all true) some actully belive whats been said without meeting me or knowing me. Thats life. lol
