add,

the one thing I DON'T like is people using what someone has said at a meet to cause trouble later . For example I might say... " The boards are boring at the moment" and that comes back as " Rose thinks the people on GR are boring"...NOT the same thing at all lol.

Or the people who go and then 'report back to mates ' with snidey comments...

but it wouldn't stop me going lol, I evidently have enough 'ego' to cope ;o) ... or maybe I just think , that people are pulling me apart anyway so I might as well inflict my company on them and give them 'genuine' ammunition!

Will see you in Shrewsbury Dizzi if I possibly can :))

As long as I am 'comfortable' with those who organise and also those who attend and of course, I welcome meeting new people. I suppose I have been spoiled as at the first Peterborouh Meet (organised by the lovely Muffy),I was met from the train by Hayley and TW, was presented with a bunch of flowers and escorted to the Meet like a priceless antique! lol BC XX

I have been to some good meets on GR and elsewhere and arranged quite a few all of which have been successful(in the middle of another one elsewhere as we speak). I got on with everyone I ever met - but can hand on heart say only an handful of people I met actually like me. Others have used my failings as ammo against me when things haven't gone right. I have fallen out with most I met. Some have hurt me badly as they know exactly how to hurt they have seen where my vulnerabilities lie and gone for my achilles. For these reasons I won't attend no more GR meets, but wish everyone else the best for their meets.

I don't have a problem going to meets where there might be people I don't like I would either ignore them, be 'icily' polite , or 'have it out' in conversation away from everyone else ;). Those who don't like me might find I am not at all as they imagine ;) mindyou if they've met me and still don't like me... ;o)

I haven't found the meets I've been to 'cliquey', people who knew each other obviously tended to chat together, but everyone spoke to me and I didn't feel 'excluded'.

I don't drive so that travelling to some is not possible unless I can afford to stay over... therefore finance is the main decider for me ..if I bring D I go cheaper though until next year.

Some people don't start Meet Threads just to wind up people, I started the Shrewsbury Meet thread as LLPC started it but fell ill and asked me to take over. If people wish to come all are welcome. Shrewsbury is easy to get too from any corner & is a real nice area. I would like to meet others on hear & hope others feel the same as you dont know who your talking until you meet them, others may say so & so is this that & the other but you never know if thats true until you meet them.

i dont go to the ones in london or far down south as money doesnt allow,
but i attand the petrborough one as its always a fun day, and worth streching the purse strings for lol

iv been to a few meets up this way, i wouldnt be put of by people i didnt like attending, altho i dont no if i could hold my tongue, if certain people attended,

and yes i agree some people do just put meet threads up to wind people up :)

Have to agree some do use a meet thread as an excuse to start a row...and every time i arrange one i say it's the last...but i quickly get over it once I've met up with everyone on the day again and had a laugh.

I suppose from the outside looking in P/Boro meet could look cliquey...but as a lot of those who are going no longer even post on the boards ...it's def not the case.

I met loads of meet newbies at the last one and am hoping to do the same at this one..as well as meeting up with old faces.

Would love to travel out further...but funds and my children still being young prohibit that for now...but who knows...sometime in the future I may well be dragging my case along the station platform ready to go who knows where !! x

I work Saturdays so haven't been able to go to some that I would have liked to in the past.

I have been to several weekday meets and still do, although they aren't GR meets.

Having seen people threaten to turn up at GR meets to "sort others out" I don't think I'd want to go to any these days.

I'm always up and about early :)

I'm not surprised if people are scared - meets seem to be quite cliquey these days or set up to wind other people up :D

DIZZI

DIZZI Report 3 Apr 2011 07:25

HI UGGERS
THEIR ARE STILL A LOT WHO ARE MAYBE NEW WHO WOULD LIKE TO MEET UP BUT ARE SCARED.

HEY WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP AT THAT TIME

IS IT THE PARAKEETS WAKING YOU UP.

Uggers

Uggers Report 3 Apr 2011 06:30

I used to go to meets quite often - mostly to catch up with people I got on with or to meet people up with people I wanted to meet off here:) Distance was never important - I have travelled a few counties away but didn't go to one a couple of miles away and that was cos of some of the people going - I wouldn't have gone to a small meet when I had real problems getting on with someone there.

I'm done with GR meets now - a couple of things have put me off. I still meet up with friends I've made on here but that's different.

Gwen, I know how you feel, I would love to go to more meets but haven't the funds unfortunately and most of the time no energy either.

Would love to have the energy and money to jump in the car and travel, so many people I would love to meet with and so many lovely places to see too.

Good luck, maybe I will find that magic carpet one day or win the lottery lol

Oh must check my numbers for last evening, if I don't come back, means I didn't win Again! lol

take care
