Brenda, my deepest sympathy on such a sad loss for all your family. Your daughter in law was such a brave positive lady and tried so hard to stay with your son and their children, who I know have supported her throughout her illness.
I know you would have been with her if you could have but I am sure your support was felt by her and the family even tho miles separated you. It must have been very hard for you to know you couldn't be with them all but they all know you loved them and wanted her to pull through. She is free from pain now, and will be remembered by so many for her courage and determination and her willingness to help others while suffering herself.

My thoughts go out to you all,

May she rest in peace.

love
Lizxxx

Remember Me by Lynn New.

No pain beyond, no tears, no fear.
No thoughts of death for I'm still near.
No hugs I know, nor sweet caress,
But I'm still close to love and bless.
No quiet word, nor gentle touch,
But don't despair ~ I love you much.
No gesture kind, to show I care;
The veil's drawn, but I'm still there.
Grieve not too long ~ but look around,
In earthly things I shall be found.
A falling leaf, a growing tree,
In every breeze you will feel me.
I walk in life ~ death holds no pain.
Be Reassured, we'll meet again.

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. This is the first time I could come back as been so busy with callers etc.
J went to Fiji from her home in Melbourne,on her own for 3 weeks for healing and relaxation as she had been dashing about getting all these expensive treatments. She filled the fridge and freezer with plenty of food, and was extremely upbeat the day before she went. She had 2 full days on this remote island. On the 3rd day she got up and was very quiet. Then she went out looking at nature, came back to her bure(a luxury Fijian type hut on the beach),had a pain in her back, and someone from the resort massaged her with coconut oil,and she passed away peacefully.
My son was told and had to get things organised. He had a few problems sorting out with the embassy and getting tickets for the children and him to fly to Fiji.

This box won't let me write will carry on in a new reply......

BrendafromWales Report 2 Jul 2010 16:04

They flew to Fiji 2 days later and the wonderful lady who ran the resort had organised everything.J was cremated in Fijian style with incense and Fijian blankets on a funeral pyre on the beach.son and children are still there until 14th July the time she would have been there till.It is good for the children as he is swimming and playing with them, but I think he is very lonely and wants to be in touch with family and friends so we have been texting when he can get a signal when he goes to the top of a hill.
He is now managing e-mails from his phone.
We personally think that this is what she wished so that the children wouldn't see her suffer.
The next hurdle is going home, but J's mum and sister are arriving in Melbourne on 16th July for 4 weeks as he also starts a new job then.He told me last night that he is having a memorial service with open house at their home on 31st July
to be cont....

This site is driving me crazy!!!

We are having a local service here next Sat for fami;ly and friends and her Journey friends are having one on July 18th and a minutes silence.
Last mon evening they were taken out by canoe to a long boat, where they laid flowers on the ocean and her ashes and lit candles and stayed in quiet contemplation for an hour. Some think this is a bit weird, but we think it is what she wanted.

If any one cares to ,just have a look at this site and read about the wonderful people who run this resort........

http://www.botaira.com/default.asp

The Fijian folk are mainly Wesleyans and very pro British.
I am sending a Hymn book I received in 1945 as a Sunday School prize to Alumita I am hoping to make a jacket cover for it with a picture of the 4 of them in memory of J....Am open to offers on ideas. One friend suggests I do a needlework cover, but don't know if I have time (or good enough).

Thank you for listening, and hope I haven't made you unhappy because that wasn't my intention, and my son wants us to celebrate her life.

They were in the same class at school and I have found the long school photo of 1974 with them both on it.She really was his other half.

I have been following this thread Brenda ,but haven't been able to find the right words.Until now.
Your Daughter in law was obviously a very strong person to battle through and keep trying different things. It is so sad that she has lost her battle with this disease.I think her children will be proud of her.(I don't know how old they are ,but assume they are still young). How lovely her funeral sounded,so peaceful ,and in such a beautiful place.
My thoughts are with your son and the children now.Thankyou for sharing this with us.

Oh Brenda I have just realised reading about your DIL and her fight against the Big C .So sorry to read she lost her fight and sending all of you my sincere condolences.
Her send off sounds really lovely and peaceful and a tribute to a brave lady. Hope her hubby and children can eventually remember the happy times and all the love that they shared.
