Hi all
Back again.

I miss buying a card for my mum for mothers day, but buy flowers to put on her grave, I posted my MIL card last week so hopefully it will have arrived, Daughter no 1 working Tomorrow so she won't be with us for dinner, she gave me my mothers day card and two little presents last week , I have them in the dinning room on a shelf so I will open them tomorrow before I go to church. Daughter no 2 will be down for dinner

Anne , where I live in South Lanarkshire I am surrounded by lots of different type restaurants, also 1/2hour from Glasgow you are spoiled for choice

We have Italian, Chinese, Cantonese, Cypriot, Indian and Traditional Scottish fare restaurants, and the usual fast food venues in my town
and in Glasgow there is the same plus I also know they have Mexican, Japanese , Persian, Portuguese (looked in the phone book out of curiosity I have never been to these) plus Fish restaurants too, Glasgow is often full of students of all nationalities it's good that they cater for different people tastes.

Hi Everyone,

Jane, I saw a report about that house. The things that go on are amazing these days and it isn't just the cities anymore.

David I'm crossing my fingers for you!

I've had a lazy day today. I think I twisted my knee a bit getting over the gate to the field at the back the other day. It's been twanging a bit since so I thought it may be better for a bit of rest. We are off to MIL's tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous as I did a little painting (can't believe I'm saying that!! lol) of a cottage next to where we took FIL for his 90th birthday. I'm giving it to her as part of her mother's day gifts and just hope she likes it!!

This morning I got a couple of shrubs to replace 2 we lost in the winter. One was an Escallonia Golden Ellen, which is supposed to be hardy, but I suppose being small it was more vulnerable to the frost. The garden centre was packed with people getting mother's day gifts. It was so hot in there I had my first icecream of the year. lol

Mel, I've been watching a series on the canals called Waterworld on cable tv. They were showing how to operate the lock paddles the other day. I thought an old mangle would be a good way to build up the muscles. One person crossed the Channel in theirs, but the boat was tipping alarmingly in the bow waves of the ferries!!

Have'nt done much all day. Sheila our reader at church alled this morning. Don't know what for as I was up the shop and when I came back she was talking to OH. She had bought my last 2 bunches of rhubarb. I must bunch some more as it is selling now.

OH set fire to the tree stump again today and we have been feeding the fire to try and get it into two parts. It is really too big for our little digger to pull over so we may have to ask a friendly farmer who has a JCB.

Mandy I caught mumps off my son. that was the only thing I had'nt had. I had scarlet fever, chicken pox and measles.

I did clean out the banties today and clip some of the brambles round the rhubarb but I feel so tired today.

Morning Mel ,Fiona and all
Well I have had breakfast in bed which was very nice.Hannah will be cooking. What will I do with myself.I do have a load of ironing that should be done or I could do more weeding.Wow! thats a choice lol

Mel it sounds like you need to have an easy gentle day today if you are feeling under par.I hope you feel better soon.

It seems to be a bright morning with some blue sky and cloud.I think today is the first day that the rides are open at Wicksteed Park so no doubt it will be very busy
I think I will stay in my dressing gown for a little longer and have another cup of tea.

My My it is quiet here today.I wonder what you are all up to.
Mel I think you might be feeling a bit down today because of the day it is.I remember feeling quite odd the first year without Mum .Nothing I could put my finger on but just a bit 'off'
I got me thinking this morning that if my Dad was still here ,he would be 89 today.

Well it is still bright with that funny hazy sun.Chris has just planted potatoes in bag things on the patio ,and I think he may be planting peas now.He was dibbing holes when I went down to the compost .
A female pheasant frightened the life out of me when I startled it and it shot out from under the hedge and flew over the fence into next door.I hope she is not nesting ,I can't cope with pheasants AND Rabbits lol

Hi Everyone. Not had very good days lately, nerves a bit jangly what with one thing and two! No more movement on the 'daughter' front, so now don't quite know what to do, if you get my meaning?! I feel a bit like a rabbit caught in the headlights not knowing which way to run! I have a nasty feeling that we now have a real breach here, the long and the short of it all being, that if we don't fall in with her plans, that's us out of the window! I would NEVER have dreamt that could happen and feel really gutted. Mind you, looking back, It's been brewing for quite sometime, sharp comments, complete lack of interest in anything we do, and less and less visits, and the feeling that you're not wanted when you're there, all of which I have glossed over with Ian and made endless excuses for for myself, and tried to ignore it, till I simply couldn't anymore! House plans have now been shelved for the time being, as wherever we go will 'be wrong', unless we're 10 miles down the road and we don't really see going to all that expense and trouble for no good reason. We now feel that if we still feel that we want to downsize in a month or two's time then we would do better to look locally. Anyway, at least we know where we are. The real sadness here is that we won't get to see our three grandchildren, but we just can't be bullied and blackmailed. Sorry to moan, it's just started raining, so tears all round!!!! Sorry Guys, to be such a misery!

Jane

Jane Report 3 Apr 2011 13:23

You are not being a misery Liz.It just seems such a shame that Laura is being so selfish and self centered.I hope that doesn't sound too harsh.I don't mean it to.
My door bell just rang.It was a man with a beautiful bouquet for 'moi'.They were from Rachel in Dubai. My surrogate daughter. How sweet was that !I have to say I had a few tears lol

LilyL

LilyL Report 3 Apr 2011 13:48

You're right Jane, that's exactly what she is being. Trouble is that she was such a lovely little girl, but always a bit self willed, which she combined with charm!! so you could say that we weren't firm enough when she was little, but there you go, hind sight and all that! Ian's painting our bedroom today; goodness me, it certainly needed it, as it was FILTHY!!! should be done by tomorrow, and be sweet smelling and CLEAN!!

Jane

Jane Report 3 Apr 2011 14:37

Liz ,send Ian here when he has finished .My bedroom is in desperate need of a facelift lol
I think most of us are far too soft when it comes to our children.I wish I had been a bit tougher.I have enabled both of them to rely on us far too much. But we do what we do don't we .Who knows what is right or wrong. There is no rule book lol

I think our food will be ready shortly.I haven't kept my nose out of the kitchen, but keep get sent out lol.Hannah has done all the ironing too!!!!!!

The sky is looking a bit dark now ,so it looks like rain may be on the way.I just brought the washing in as it is almost dry.

Jane Report 3 Apr 2011 16:33

Well the rain has arrived !.I think might be showers on and off.
David my Dad was 64 when he died ,but I never seem to think of him of a certain age(if you know what I mean) .I don't think I ever thought about how old my parents were when they were alive.I always thought Dad would go on forever until he was struck down with that dreadful Motor Neurone Disease. It hit me like a brick. It was the same week I found I was expecting James ,that I was told Dad had MND.I can recall the day my GP said I was about 8 weeks, and then said I didn't look too happy.I just burst into tears and said I was happy but that I had just found out my Dad was dying. He gave me the biggest hug and said he was always there for me.He always was.He is now retired as a Dr and is a vicar!!!
