KempinaPartyhat Report 14 Apr 2010 08:33

It may be that virus again ........

what happens is ...someone opens their email box and a virus pops in then when you shut it the virus steals all you addresses and pops out again ..
Then the virus sends emails to all your friends and the process starts again

THIS IS THE MESSAGE NOT A NORMA SPAM'

How are you ? I flew to Spain yesterday because one of my close relatives had an accident here.
She is unconscious now and waiting for surgery. I did not bring much cash here with me and my money orders and check book I took would take over 1 week to clear because of international bank policies, so I want to ask if you can lend me some money.
In fact She had a little problem with her insurance policy since she stopped working before this incident, so before it is ratified, a deposit has to be made also because it's a private hospital and i can't take her to another hospital in this condition since she is unconscious.
I'm sorry to bother you now since it is also so sudden I will pay you back when things have been done.

Best Regards

It is spam, and the usual kind of spam too.

The clue is in the request for money. It's just another version of the nigerian scam that has been circulating around the world for years.

You've taken it all the wrong way because it has been made to appear as if it came from someone who you know had died. But these operators don't know that, they just attach an email address similar to that one to make it more familiar to you, so that you might think it's genuine and send the money.

Just delete it and forget it, and don't take it so personally.

But a lesson to be learned here. NEVER forward an email on without deleting all previous recipients addresses, and if you are forwarding to multiple recipients, send the email to yourself, and put all the other addresses in the BCC line. (BCC is Blind Carbon Copy, meaning other recipients will not see who else has received the same email from you)

For those on FB do NOT open the application Elegant gifts if someone sends you one.

It goes on to send the same "gift" to all of your friends in your list without your permission.---who then click on it & on and on it goes.

I realised this wasnt my friend sending these out when it came up on my news feed that my friend had send a mutual friend no longer with us one of these.

We went on to warn other people in our friend lists via a message on our own walls.
