Are you stitting comfortably? Then I'll begin.

My brother and I used to run up to the front room at 1.45 for Listen with Mother. I used to lie on the floor in front of the wireless speaker and stare right into it thinking the woman was sitting in there!! ( my Dad had rigged up a big speaker in the corner of the room as he loved his music so much).
I loved those stories.

Me too 1946 - when the radio was called the wireless, and there was plenty of crackling going on, whilst the "station" was tuned in!

Gawd these youngsters dont know they are born! ))))

Listen with Mother would start at 1.45 and at 2 pm it would be Womans Hour on the radio.........so that's when Mum put me for my afternoon nap.........went to school and fell asleep at 2pm and my Mum had to explain why.......still feel dozy at 2 pm now....

Maybe if I hear the music I will drop off to sleep......a bit like Pavlov's Dog.....

The time is a quarter to two. This is the BBC Home Service for mothers and children at home. Are you ready for the music? When it stops, Catherine Edwards will be here to speak to you. Ding-de-dong. Ding-de-dong, Ding, Ding! Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin! "

To young for Listen with Mother, but I remember Watch with mother :o)))

Mary Mungo & Midge, Chigley, Trumpton, Camberwick Green :o)))

One had a barn dance at the end of it, another right at the end one character would appear from a hole in the ground and another had a song everytime about "riding on the train, and he sits on the footplate there and back again"

Oh and dont forget Windy Miller :o))))
