oooooh yes, you don't to be floundering around in the dark in your wheelchair

you might get stuck somewhere :-D

Hello Sylvia,

That is very good advice about the torches. You can guarantee that if the lights go out, the torch is as far away as it can be.

It would be very difficult floundering about in the wheelchair in darkness, bashing into things :-D

Thinking about it, a good idea would be to clip a small torch to the wheelchair. I have always kept the lantern by the bed because we often get power cuts here during the night in the winter.
The Duchess was prone to hypo's in the night, so I needed a light then.

Hi Tec

Good, you are prepared!!

May I just suggest that you try to get some small, cheap torches, and put one in an obvious place in every room that you use??

Then if the power goes out suddenly when you are in the coal bunker, the kitchen, the bathroom or wherever, you will at least have a light to hand to help you make your way safely to your major sources of candles and battery lantern

I have small torches by each side of our bed and the spare bed all the time .......... can help if it gets very dark.

But the advice to have a small torch in every room is one that we are given here in case of power outages

Sylvia the description of your weather made me shiver.
:-0
Looks like we can expect a cold spell about the end of November/early December, thanks for the warning.
I have a tank full of gas (LPG) A bunker full of coal, and as we have been threatened with possible powercuts this winter, I have candles, a powerful torch, and a battery operated lantern.
Although the heating will go off in a powercut I am fortunate in that I can cook by gas, and have a coal fire if necessary.
So I can keep one room warm if I need to.

Hi

yes, we have an Arctic outflow .............. the "inland" provinces such as Alberta and the Prairie provinces and some US states, are having much worse weather than we are .............. temperatures down to -28C in some places, with lots of s***.

But -5C overnight is cold for us in the Banana Belt. :-)

OH went out early this morning (7 am) for a teaching session at the hospital ....... came back about 10 am. I opened the door for him, and it was below 0C in the shade at the front of the house!

Bit of a shock to the system, as I hadn't even poked my nose out before!!

But you guys should watch out ............................ the jet stream flow might just direct some of the blast over the "pond".

I'm glad that you don't have fleas Linda :-D

I don't know that there were actually fleas there - it was just known as that.

As I got older I went to the very much better Odeon - I loved it there.

The luxury of the thick red carpet :-D

Tecwyn Report 11 Nov 2014 22:47

It was all part of the fun :-D

When I was a boy I used to go to the Electric Cinema - known locally as the "Flea pit" :-D

The reel frequently broke, and everyone clapped and stamped their feet till it was repaired :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Nov 2014 22:44

That rarely happened thank goodness
