LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Nov 2014 22:10

Good morning Sue, I want to hear about the concert

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 12 Nov 2014 22:08

Good Morning Sue,

Do you think Linda is formidable? :-D

I think that she is a pussycat really :-D

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 12 Nov 2014 22:04

Oooh - Linda is scary :-0

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 12 Nov 2014 22:04

No - please don't set my daughter on me :-D

I'd just give in - for the sake of peace :-D

There's nothing worse than a school teacher having a rant :-D

Hello - I'm running a little late today.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Nov 2014 21:59

I really think you should do that, there will come a time when you are ill and you will not be safe on the walker. Do something about it, or I will set your daughter on you and you wouldn't want that

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 12 Nov 2014 21:57

I've discovered that I can't have a wheelchair up there. There are two boxes fitted to the skirting board on the landing, that are the electronic supply to the stairlifts, and as the landing is narrow anyway, there isn't room to negotiate a wheelchair along the landing.

So I will have to make do with the walker that has a seat on it should I need to sit down.
Bit of a nuisance, but never mind.

I might explore the possibility that the boxes could be raised above the dado rail. A bit unsightly, but it's only me that has to live with them

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Nov 2014 21:51

There you go then, just ring up and arrange for the bed, it could take a while for them to come. Don't forget to buy another wheelchair for upstairs

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 12 Nov 2014 21:48

Yes I will I think - what will take me hours, they will do in no time. There's no big rush anyway.

My bedroom is ready to move back into, just have to arrange to have the bed moved.
The curtains have to be put up as well.

Sue shampoo'd the carpet for me, came up like new.

Silly young man

Leave putting the clothes back and picking up the hedging until your daughter comes

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 12 Nov 2014 21:38

I think the silly old man has been going at it a bit too much lately :-D

hacking away at hedges, moving bedroom furniture about etc.
time for a rest me thinks, but I will visit the Duchess tomorrow.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 12 Nov 2014 21:34

and long may they remain extinct :-D

Yes as soon as you said Mt St. Helens, I remembered - silly me :-(

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Nov 2014 21:31

I am sorry that you are not feeling well Tec, hopefully not too serious

No volcanoes around here either and the earth rarely moves :-D

SylviaInCanada Report 12 Nov 2014 21:29

Mt St Helens in Oregon blew about 1980 ........... and spewed ash all around, cutting rivers, roads, and killing a lot of peopl

Mount Baker hasn't done very much ................ except there's a lot of hot air coming out of vents near the top of the mountain. That's been happening for around 30 years ................... so people are getting a tiny bit blase about her!

If she does go, it will probably be ash that spews out ............................ that seems to be what the volcanoes in Washington and Oregon do, from geological evidence

The ones up here in BC and north to Alaska seem to have been more lava flows .................. but they are all believed to be extinct :-D

Tecwyn Report 12 Nov 2014 21:21

Hello Linda,

You can buy heated slippers I believe, or just put your toes on OHs lap to warm :-D

I didn't go to see the Duchess today, as I didn't feel too good, nothing in particular, just tired and aching a bit.
I will go tomorrow instead.

Sylvia we don't have volcanoes or earthquakes to think about. We have had earth tremors from time to time that shake the houses a bit, nothing serious.
Is Mount Baker the volcano South of you in Washington State that blew a few years ago? causing serious disruption.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Nov 2014 21:10

Hello you too, my toes are cold tonight :-(

Having a torch on your wheelchairs sounds like a good idea Tec

Did you go to see the Duchess today?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 12 Nov 2014 21:06

we can also be cut off from "those to the east"

The Banana Belt only goes about 50 km inland ............. and then there is a stretch of flat, wind-blown prairie where a snow storm very quickly becomes a blinding blizzard ....... people have actually died within reach of help.

All traffic comes to a halt.

Then the first mountain ranges are about 150 km from here .................. with high mountain passes.

PLUS ......................... Mount Baker is a semi-extinct volcano about 25 km or so south of the border, about level with the prairie mentioned above

She has been spouting smoke from vents for about 30 years.

If she blows, the lava and or ash will flow across the border, and cut us off from the east.

We do have large supermarkets ............... but no guarantee that their stocks can be re-supplied, other than by sea or from Seattle to the south of us .......... which, however, faces the same problems that we do

:-D

and we don't mention the earthquakes :-)

Living on the West coast we get quite mild winters, though very wet and windy.
However, between here and so called "civilisation" they frequently have a severe spell during winter, with heavy snowfalls.
We have been cut off many times.

I keep my freezer well stocked, and get deliveries from one of the big supermarkets, Asda. Though being based in Shrewsbury, nearly 100 miles away, there is no guarantee they could get out here in very bad weather.

I can of course get to shops 10 miles away along the coast, such as they are.
The local population during the winter is not sufficient to sustain a big supermarket.
