We had an electric hospital bed for mum and it was huge, dads was just like an ordinary divan

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 17 Nov 2014 22:24

I've been looking at them today on the internet - they do exactly what I need, and are much nicer than that big ugly thing I've got

LindainHerriotCountry Report 17 Nov 2014 22:24

We sold my dads, it came apart very easily to move it

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 17 Nov 2014 22:22

Good idea Linda :-D

you are probably right.

it's not rocket science, it could be done by a couple of men

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 17 Nov 2014 22:21

I bought an electric bed for my father, you don't have to pay the vat on the sale because you are disabled and it is for medical use

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 17 Nov 2014 22:20

Tell them it isn't a problem, you are going to take it apart yourself, they will be there like a shot

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 17 Nov 2014 22:18

Well if they won't, or can't, move the bed, I will tell them to take it away.
There are plenty of adjustable beds on the market, so I will buy one and have it delivered upstairs.

When it was installed, the situation was explained to the men, and it was explained that eventually I would be moving back upstairs.

They said it was no problem, just to let them know, and someone would come out.

The man I spoke to today was just so awkward.
It is not unreasonable that a bed would be put upstairs in a bedroom :-0

LindainHerriotCountry Report 17 Nov 2014 22:13

Oh dear, that doesn't sound too good Tec, don't let them backslide, keep phoning them, or they won't move it

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 17 Nov 2014 22:09

Good Luck Sue - make your presence felt, but keep your cool :-D
Bye,

I phoned today to ask for my hospital bed to be taken upstairs :-(

Never heard such excuses,
They don't like to move beds from their original locations,
Health & Safety apply to staircases,
They are very busy, and it takes extra time to dismantle and then reassemble the bed,
They will see what can be done, and phone me back in about two weeks :-|

The AGM is this morning. In fact I'll be off in a moment. I will be addressing the issue without any doubt. I have seven people going to the lunch so we won't be given the special menu :-(

I will let you know how it goes. Wish me luck.

Bye <3 <3 <3

She doesn't want to tell us

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 17 Nov 2014 21:55

Forgot to ask about the AGM

It was an interesting role Sue - but there is traditionally friction between North, and South Walians. So some meetings were quite lively. :-D

I enjoyed it though, and could fight my corner :-D

Did you tell her off for messing up your Christmas meal

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 17 Nov 2014 21:51

Secretary is without doubt the kingpin of an organization - we have a good one but she likes to keep a tight rein on any jobs she delegates.

Tec - sounds like a very interesting and important role you had.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 17 Nov 2014 21:51

Well Sue, see it as a lesson to take water everywhere in future. Especially in that kind of heat.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 17 Nov 2014 21:46

Hi Sylvia - I wouldn't like a whistling OH either :-D

Linda - we carried water everywhere in Italy because it was so hot - it's silly that I didn't think to take a bottle with me :-(

Lovely sunny morning here - it's a shame I'll be indoors for a good bit of the day.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 17 Nov 2014 21:45

Relieved and glad that you got a good report Sue - take care.

Sylvia I hope that power didn't go to your head :-D

I was once on a Welsh Office Quango - in the days when we had a Welsh Office instead of this talking shop we have now, called the Welsh Assembly.
I was North Wales Rep for Educational Sport for the Disabled.
Quite ironic in light of events :-(

Hello Sylvia, I think a whistling OH would get on my nerves.

All the young ones carry water everywhere Sue, so you will have to be like them

It was so hot this summer that I did have water with me while I travelled on the train, especially on the tube and across London, I drank the whole bottle
