So you are watching football :-D

A lovely crisp sunny day here today.

The roofer turned up to replace two slates that were damaged in the storm last winter. Also cleaned some gutters, and unblocked a downpipe that had grass growing in the top. Now the rainwater will flow to where it is supposed to. :-)

Went to visit the Duchess this afternoon. On arrival she thought that I had come to take her to "Auntie Mary's" for tea, as we had apparently been invited.
I don't know of Auntie Mary, but the Duchess became quite irate when I said this.
Anyway, I eventually got out of that one.
One really needs a Degree in tact and diplomacy, to say nothing of quick thinking.

Linda I have an up lighter with a reading lamp attached, but mine has a halogen bulb, and they are hot - though I rarely use the reading lamp.

I have no doubt that you are watching football :-D
unless you have escaped to the cinema

We have just been out and about. We went to a nice lighting shop and bought a new floor standing reading light for the lounge. I have one where I sit, but it is a halogen bulb and apart from being a very yellow light, it is incredibly hot on the top of my head. We have replaced it with a new combined up lighter and reading light with a low energy LED bulb.

We then went for lunch and it brought back nice memories because the last time we were there, we were with Sue and her OH. Do you remember te very old pub at Crayke Sue?

I'm giving you a vote of confidence too, Amanda. You'll be fine.
At meetings, you need to get the clear wording of a resolution when it's passed and otherwise, the chairperson will be the one to stick to the agenda - with you keeping an eye on the fact that he/she does that so that a 'discussion' on one subject doesn't trail off onto something totally unrelated to the subject.

Amanda ....................

you will be just fine!!

Just remember to try to get a good, clear agenda written up before the meeting ............... and then keep the chair to it :-)

All this talk of electric beds, I hope they are not like the electric chairs the Americans had in prisons.

I always have several bottles of water in my vehicle and usually take one with me when I go in to a meeting, or to the doc. If I get a tickle in my throat I can have a few sips of water to try to control it.

Hello Linda :-) I thought you had all gone off to bed-e-bys .

Thank you for the vote of confidence :-D

Rumour has it he came to give the key back on Saturday ( he thought the site vote was going on then ) but couldn't turn up yesterday as he was at church :-0 :-S :-0
I believe the key is going to be surrendered to the general secterary any day.

There is a much happier feeling running through the site now :-)

Goodnight Tec, sleep well.

Hello Amanda, I am sure you will be a good secretary, it just takes someone with common sense.

Any progress on getting the key back?

Night Tec , sleep well .

Amanda2003 Report 17 Nov 2014 22:53

Good evening folks .

I've just been reading back a few pages in the hopes of catching up with all your news .

Yesterday at 10.30am I was voted in as the new " site secretary " :-0 I hope I can manage the role okay . OH was also voted in as a committee member , I think we must have impressed everyone in our battle against " the odious one " lol
To be honest I was the only sap that had put their name forward as secretary and even I can win a " one horse race " :-D
Today a large skip was delivered onsite and a gang of us have cleared most of the rubbish up from the two , now vacant plots , ready for new folks to begin their gardening adventures .
I'll have to get used to all this committee jargon and points of order . I've never bothered to go to an allotment AGM , so that will be an eye opener next August , I've heard they normally decend into choas and lots of raised voices !

Tec , I hope you find the perfect bed , the hospital one sounds rather grim .

~~~~~ to everyone .
Tecwyn
Tecwyn Report 17 Nov 2014 22:51
As you say, most of the hospital bed is un-necessary for me.
I only have to keep my leg elevated.
Maybe the bed could go to someone who really needs it.
They wouldn't let me out of hospital until I had one :-(
Yes..........I will do some research on them :-D
I'm off to bed now, the heating's gone off :-D
Sleep well Linda,
Goodnight,
Tec :-)
It would be good if you could try one So you could choose your mattress. I think you normally have to order them in,unless it is the sort of place which has stock in. The ordinary type are n o where near as heavy as the hospital ones.
As you say ,you don't need that type of mattress,or the side bars, or the ability to raise the height for the nurses. As long as you can stand up from a normal height bed you should be fine
LindainHerriotCountry
LindainHerriotCountry Report 17 Nov 2014 22:41
Enjoy your coffee Sylvia.
Tecwyn
Tecwyn Report 17 Nov 2014 22:40
Enjoy your coffee Sylvia :-D
I could get to a place in Wrexham that sells them. People that I've dealt with before. I bought OHs scooter there, and my electric armchair.
So I could look at what they are selling.
The hospital bed has a special mattress to prevent pressure sores, but I don't need that, as I'm not bedridden.
The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of getting my own, and they can stick their bed :-D
LindainHerriotCountry
LindainHerriotCountry Report 17 Nov 2014 22:35
Well buy yourself a new one, just make sure they know it has to be taken upstairs as the base is heavier than a normal bed. It is a pity you can't try the mattresses out in the furniture store.
If you get a decent make it should be fine
Hi
sorry, I got a phone call
no ............. being Secretary did not go to my head!
nor did I keep a tight rein
We had certain things that had to be done at certain times of the year
so I just told the person responsible for doing it that it was time to do the job
I did keep the chair person in order, and would pull people back on track
I found people responded quite well ................. they were nearly all academics, and busy people, so they liked the reminder, and most would do whatever almost immediately!
coffee time :-D
Tecwyn
Tecwyn Report 17 Nov 2014 22:32
Yes this bed is huge, and difficult to position.
It's 7ft long, and 40 ins wide, and all bars, just like the typical hospital bed.
I don't like it anyway
