Hello friends :-)

I'm glad you arrived home safely, Huia. The sun can be blinding just before it sets.

It wasn't quite as hot as predicted yesterday although still very warm. Today should be cooler and as it is overcast we are hoping for rain.

I am glad you arrived back home safely Huia.

The very low winter sun is often a problem on the road just around the corner from here. It is narrow and twisty as it is, but it is often impossible to see anything when it is sunny

I arrived at Matamata at 3.30 and everybody started eating the salads and potato crisps at about 4.00. The sausages etc were started cooking about 5.00 so I was able to finish my meal at a reasonable time, and leave just before 7.00 and was home by 8.30, although the low sun was a bit of a problem in a couple of places, looking directly into it. I was wearing my sunnies and had the shade down, but in those places I had to put my hand to my eyebrows so I could see the road. Anyway I arrived home safely.

I think you are very sensible Huia, I don't much like driving in the dark either.

Your bedroom sounds splendid tec, it is nice when the original features are still in a house.

We had fireplaces in the bedrooms when I was little, but you had to be ill to have a fire, most of the time we had ice on the inside of the windows in the winter. That is a far cry from today with central heating and double glazing. Late yesterday afternoon,it was so cold outside that the double glazing began to fog up, but on the outside because it was so efficient

I have just finished my lunch. I have to get washed and clean my teeth and change into good clothes then drive about 1 and a half hours down to Matamata for a BBQ. I don't intend to wait too late to eat. If they haven't started by 6.30 I will grab myself a plate of stuff as I want to be home by 8.30 before it gets too dark. I am getting too old to be traipsing all over the countryside in the dark. At least I will have a few hours of chatting with my political friends.

Tried that, Linda. Lived there for nearly two years - and loved it - except for the weather!
Good night - sleep tight - and warm.

Just looking in, though I expect everyone has gone.
My daughter and SIL are here, but they've gone to bed now.

They sprayed the cast iron Victorian fireplace in my bedroom matt black, which is very effective against the rest of the decorating. Also moved some furniture for me.

This evening we went to the village pub for dinner, which was most enjoyable.

We have now been beaten by the All Blacks for the 26th time in 61 years :-0

One day Kiwi's - one day :-D

It is time for bed here, so I will say goodnight, stay cool down under

Hello Berona. I have also thoroughly watered the pots and brought the ferns indoors. Take care. You know me all too well :-D

42 is dreadful, you should move somewhere cooler such as England :-D

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 22 Nov 2014 22:54

Sounds like a good idea. I don't do much housework on Sunday anyway just the basics. The bed is already made and OH washed the breakfast things so that's about it :-)

Ulterior motive, Linda. Sue is up to no-good. Only bought pots? Now she has a reason to go to the nujrsery again - to buy something to put in them! Really, Sue!!!

I was up earlier than usual to-day because I made myself get out and water my pots. Had to do it in two trips - taking my wheels with me, but used the hose to soak every pot. The weather man has told us to expect 42 here to-day....Nice!!!! so after filling a container with water for any birds who may be looking for a drink - I am now back indoors - aircon ON - and I'm staying put!

If it is going to be hot, I think you should sit and read all day, no housework allowed

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 22 Nov 2014 22:41

They are very nice handmade pots. I'm sure I will have something to put in them :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 22 Nov 2014 22:32

I am astounded, but why buy pots unless you buy plants to put in them

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 22 Nov 2014 22:25

You do that :-D

You will be surprised to know that I didn't buy a single plant from yesterday's market. I did however buy two pots :-\
