I am sorry about your cat Amanda and about your daughters tooth.

The news about the cricketer doesn't sound good Sue, I hope he pulls through

Tecwyn Report 25 Nov 2014 22:07

It is very sad about Phil Hughes. His accident has been reported several times on BBC news bulletins here today.
A freak accident, and so very unlucky. Poor lad, I hope he makes a full recovery in time.

It's all quiet now so who knows?

Sad news in Australia. Our cricketer Phil Hughes is in critical condition after being hit by a ball during a game. How life can change in a moment :-(

Good Morning Sue,

I wonder what the disturbance is outside?

You don't think the Russians have invaded do you? :-D

I also love Maggie Smith, who is superb in Downton Abbey, she gets the best lines :-D
Judy Dench is brilliant too.

SueMaid Report 25 Nov 2014 21:54

Hello everyone :-)

Something is going on outside - machinery noises and men shouting. It's in another street so I don't know what it is.

Amanda - I'm so sorry you have lost your poor cat. They seem to know when there time has come <3

Sounds very cold Linda - hot chocolate and a warm bed for you.

I'm not a cinema person. It isn't often I am drawn to movies and if I am I would rather watch it at home. There are some exception - The King's Speech and anything with Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.

Hello Amanda :-)

So sorry to see that one of your cats has died. It was obviously her time after a happy and contented life. So nice that she died in her own home peacefully.

Hope that your daughter has recovered from her traumatic experience at the dentist.
I have to go soon - will you come and hold my hand too :-D

How is the secretary work going?
I'm sure that you will make an excellent secretary :-)

Hello people :-) I haven't read back very far , so I hope all is well . I can see that Carole is back with us :-D Hello Carole .

I've been busy with the family and haven't had the chance to catch up with you all .
We had visitors at the weekend (two of OHs " Step-children " from years back , they are both in their 30s ) , it was lovely to see them as always .

I've had a bit of sadness , one of my cats died on Sunday night / Monday morning ( under our bed of all places ) . I knew she wasn't right , as she had been hiding up around the house since late on Saturday evening but as she didn't sound distressed I thought it best to just leave her be . In all my years of pet keeping I've never actually had one die a natural death , she looked very peaceful when I found her on Monday morning . I buried her in the garden , in a spot that she used to love sitting in .

I had to go and spend the night with my eldest daughter yesterday , she had a dentist appointment ( for a tooth extraction ) and she is such a nerveous patient , she needed Mummy . I'm glad I was there as it didn't go as well as expected, the tooth snapped off , leaving the roots in the gum . She will have to go to the hospital to be sedated and have them removed at some point in the future , poor dear looked like death when she came out of the surgery . If I hadn't been about to look after the kiddies it would have been so much worse .

I expect that you were glad to get home Linda, in the warm.
Hot coffee and doughnuts :-D

It Was Effie Grey tonight, not that I saw it because I had lot s of admin to do.
It is the story of the marriage of John Ruskin to his model Effie Grey apparently

It is absolutely freezing out there

Yes Persie - cinema duty would have its rewards occasionally - making up for all the rubbish in between.

I think I lasted about a third of the way through Gone With The Wind - very drippy :-0

Persephone

Persephone Report 25 Nov 2014 21:32

I didn't like "Gone with the Wind"... waste of an afternoon many years ago. I left the book alone as well.

I think I would like to do cinema duty just on the off chance that I would get to see a few decent movies.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 25 Nov 2014 21:27

Good Morning Persie,

Hope you get to see those films sometime.

I'm waiting till Gone With The Wind reaches these parts :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 25 Nov 2014 21:25

I wonder what was on at the cinema tonight?

Carole I wouldn't have laughed at your soaking - I wouldn't want a slap :-D

Berona it does make sense to group your pots as close together as you can, and as near as you can, to save you when watering. Looks like you're in for a hot summer.

Hello Sylvia from WA, welcome to the thread - I'm Tec and live in Wales :-)

I want to see the movie "Hope Springs" don't really care if it has a good rating or not, just happen to like Tommy Lee Jones who was fantastic in 'The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada" and Meryl Streep, so would like to see them doing a movie together.

Brr, it is only three degrees out there and really thick fog.

Lunch was nice, but I was glad to get back and put the heating on. Unfortunately we are on cinema duty so I have to go out again

LindainHerriotCountry Report 25 Nov 2014 10:44

Welcome to the thread Sylvia

Plants are supposed to grow better when they are grouped together,so maybe you are doing them a favour Berona.

It is a nice day here, OH has suggested going out to lunch again. We have some favourite pubs and some of them are in a sort of marketing chain. They gave us a passport which you get stamped at each of the pubs, once it is full you get £10 off your next meal. A crafty ploy on their behalf as it makes you seek out the ones you haven't been to. I will have to get changed as it is posh pensioner territory, so jeans and a fleece won't do.

Hi all. Makes you wonder what causes people to do such things, doesn't it? The mother is a 30 y.old Samoan who has lived here for ten years. Neighbours didn't know about the baby as they said she was a big woman. However. it seems he was down there for five days and was pushed in and dropped more than 2 metres. Only the fact that he was wrapped in a baby rug which also covered the back of his head - plus - she also took the cot blanket too was what softened his fall.

We have had a week of hotter-than-normal weather = and we still have a week to go before Summer. I spoil myself with my air conditioner, but it's very hard to keep the water up to the pot plants when it's very hot. I've already started grouping them together so that I only have about four sections of my courtyard where I have to stand and do as many pots together all at the same time.

Oops - Sylvia in WA. Nice of you to drop in. Haven't heard much from over your way for quite a while. You are welcome to join us if you wish. Sue and I are in NSW, Carolee in Vic = Persephone and Huia are Kiwis - SylviainCanada speaks for itself, whilst Linda, Amanda, Diane, are in England and our only gentleman (and he IS a gentleman) is Tec in Wales. Others like Elizabeth and Susan pop in from time to time to say hello too. Now....I know I've missed somebody so please forgive me... It's old age. Hope to hear more from you, Sylvia. Welcome.

Hello all,

Thanks for the lovely welcome back, its nice to be able to chat again :-)
A couple of weeks ago I went to look at something on here, when I clicked to look I found I couldn't and now I can't remember what I was looking for haha.

I read about the baby the other day, so sad.

Funny thing happened yesterday. We had a very wet day with heavy rainfall. Any way, coming home from work I pull up in my driveway and the heavens opened up!! We have closed gates to our place and I have to get out of my car to open and close them, well, I got drenched and looked like a drowned cat :-D Thank goodness no one was home when I walked in, they would have got slapped for laughing at my predicament :-D

I cant think who CWCe is and I cant read back because you all talk too much :-D

It was one of our main news items last night Sylvia. Fairly traumatic for even the rescuers, another day down there the poor little baby may have died with the heat and lack of substance.. must have had a strong pair of lungs though.

The concrete slab cover was quite heavy to remove as well.
