Coffee would be lovely Persie - thank you :-)

I can look forward to going to bed now Persie. The atmosphere in the bedroom is much more conducive to sleeping than the dining room, that always felt wrong.

I like to go upstairs to bed. :-)

Coffee would be very nice Persie

Persephone Report 28 Nov 2014 22:04

I could bring it to you in bed Linda, but might be an intrusion on quality time.

Hello Persie - I hope you are feeling better today. OH bought the laptop tray and fan from a computer fair. The fan plugs into the computer and is very quiet.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 28 Nov 2014 21:55

Hello Persie, I hope you slept in a better position last night so you aren't hurting today

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 28 Nov 2014 21:51

Hello Persie - how are you today, not still hurting I hope?

I ramble all the time - that is why I am here :-D

I wondered why it was called Black Friday. I had always thought Black Friday had to be Friday the 13th.

Where did your OH get his little fan Sue, what sort is it .. my lap top gets a bit overheated and if I leave it on and go about my day, when I get back it has taken umbrage and turned itself off.

Hello Stephen, if you are still around, this is an Aussie Chat thread but it is not strictly for Australians... if you are looking for help with your genealogy then ask questions on the Find your Ancestors thread.. Or if it is just a general genealogy question and not specifically related to your heritage use the Genealogy Chat thread.

But if you want to talk about anything or nothing in particular in any sort of rambling order then you are in the right place. This thread is more than just an Aussie walkabout it is world wide chat.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 28 Nov 2014 21:22

I don't think I could be bothered with a new model after all this time Sue

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 28 Nov 2014 21:21

Apparently this is an American custom that follows Thanks Giving Day.

Crowds besiege the stores in the hope of a bargain.

So called "Black Friday" because the stores trading in "the red" get the chance to go back into the black.

That is how it was explained by an American on the radio today

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 28 Nov 2014 21:21

Really? Surely the bargains can't be that good :-0

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 28 Nov 2014 21:17

The police in Cardiff have criticised Tesco security for not being able to control crowds.
They were called out to stores where mayhem had ensued.
People were queue from midnight in bitterly cold conditions till stores opened at 6am.

Madness :-(

SueMaid Report 28 Nov 2014 21:14

Would that be a newer model Linda or are you just thinking about changing the batteries ;-)

I had to ask someone on FB about the Black Friday Sales as I had never heard of it. It will arrive here before long :-(

We do have Boxing Day sales and that can be crazy in the cities but it's not chaotic here where we live thank goodness and if you're so inclined you can pick up a good bargain. We are not inclined :-)

As far as I can see, it's just a way for companies to off load all their old stock on gullible customers
