Hi everyone, Finally got rid of the trapped nerve ,I used 12 hour V*****L magic....

I spent a lovely day crafting actually die cutting, using lots of dies that I havent used for quite a while. I really enjoyed doing them...Another lot of craft stuff has found its way here, :-D :-D :-D mainly stamps and card stock.J watched the various sporting events so I escaped to my room.... ;-) ;-) ;-) sheer joy : <3 <3

Because I manage to wash most of myself now, I have no carers coming in Sat and Sundays, we are able to have a lie in and it felt great, back to normal routine now monday to friday looking out of the window most of the blossom has fallen , but soon as the trees fill out again we wont see much of the park until autumn.
so far to day the sun is shining although I can see clouds forming, more rain which we need its been a very dry time of late....

we are having braised steak and all the trfmmings today thanks to the slow cooker,
and my chef :-D :-D :-D :-D

well done Sallie you have worked hard <3 <3

hope you are all ok. bye for now love Jean xxx

Jean good to see you back to your cheery self. I am sure it is good to be out of pain. Don't overdo the die cutting though you don't want to damage the nerve again. Great too that you can dispense with carers at weekends, nice to have your home to yourselves. And so what if a bit is left unwashed, it won't harm you. We. in this house, have never had daily showers. We don't smell (and neither of us uses much deodorant either), and we are not dirty. Remember the once a week baths when we were young, it didn't harm us did it?

Sally pleased to see you getting on with all your jobs. Hope that baby makes an appearance soon we are all waiting now :-D Hope all goes well. :-) :-) :-)

Sallie Report 1 May 2017 19:56

Jean, glad to hear that the pain has gone with the help of voltarol gel and that you are feeling a lot better so that you can do some die cutting.
I have started to die cut the shoes, so will try and post them to you tomorrow.

Ann, today I have put a few things together into a case, apart from the last minute things, so that we can just pick up the case and go.
I am a bit on edge with trying to keep up to date with things like phone calls and also cards and letters that need to be posted. If they were living nearer to us it would make things a bit easier, but that doesn't matter as long as everything will be alright.

Ann, yes I can't wait until the baby is here, there are a few things that I want to make and seen some lovely wool, but have to wait until the baby arrives before I can buy the wool and make a start......trouble is, I'm itching to start knitting them, but will have to be patient.

I'm ready for a cup of tea now, so will speak again tomorrow.

Take care.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Just nudging the thread up. Jean I expect that you are busy with your card making, it's good that you have something to do.

Hope that your sciatica is now much better and that it will stay that way for a very long time.

Ann, hope that you and T will have a nice holiday in the Lake District with some members of your family and that the weather will be kind to you.

Well our grandchild is now three days over due, it will be lovely when it has arrived.

Christie was awake most of last night with ear ache, so they went to the Walk in Centre at eight o clock this morning, the doctor told her that she has an ear infection so she was given Penicillin, so hopefully she will start to feel a bit better tomorrow.

All these things are sent to try us, I suppose.lol!! It could be a lot worse.

It has been a lovely bright and sunny day here today, different from yesterday when it was grey, cloudy and cold.

Well will look in again soon.

Take care.

Sad here tonight. Lucas, daughters cat that went missing last year has just been run over and killed. One of the penalties of living near a road with cats, he was jet black and apparently was chasing another black cat. The motorist who killed him didn't stop somebody else found him.

Morning all. looks like the sun is having a rest today very overcast and rain is on the way, much needed, I am off to the docs later today just to have the medicnes look at, you can guess when the rain will come 5.00 today time of my appoinent....

You are right Sallie, I have been hard at it card wise,we have so many folk who come into the new cafe from outside and the cards fly out... so much for slowing down :-| :-|
still it keeps my mind ticking over, I am glad I managed to do some die cutting, but can see I need to do some more. ;-) ;-)

sorry Ann to hear about the poor cat, but I hope you break was good , nice to meet up with families...

on pins Sallie waiting for the baby news hope all goes well for everyone.

Sallie Report 12 May 2017 13:37

Jean, so glad your to hear that your cards are selling well......it is good that you have lots to keep your mind active, very therapeutic.
Hope the rain keeps away until after you have had your hair done.

Ann, so sorry to hear about your daughter's cat, it is lovely to have a pet but then when something happens to them it is so sad and upsets all the family. I would like to have a dog, but Alun won't have one, because we were both so upset after losing our golden labrador six weeks before Jennie was born, he won't have another dog.

I haven't been on GR for several days as we had a bit of a shock on Tuesday, Alun suffered a stroke, so we took him to hospital as there was a four hour wait for an ambulance. Luckily he has only suffered a minor one, it has affected his speech and swallow on the left side of his throat, things have started to slowly to improve, thank goodness.
It seems that the stroke was caused by a small blood clot on on his brain.
They were having a problem getting his blood pressure down it remained at 187 over 106, but the Consultant told us yesterday that he has now been put on a better blood pressure medication, and by last night it has started to come down and when Jennie got in touch with the hospital this morning she was told that is lower again.

He still has to have an MRI scan today, just to make sure that there is nothing else that didn't show up on the CT scan......also he has to have an echocardiogram. At least the doctors are making sure that there is nothing else that could have caused it.

Of course we are still waiting for our grandchild to put in an appearance, I think it is too comfortable where it is.lolol!! If it isn't born by Tuesday, they are going to induce Christie. I shall be really glad when the baby is here now. Trouble is, all this is not helping with the problems I already have.

Well will chat again soon, and hopefully with some happy news.

Take care.

Love, Sallie.xx <3 :-)

Jean busy busy with your cards, good that they sell so well though.

Sallie so sorry to hear about Alun's stroke, hope he quickly gets better and they can prevent another one. Not helping your problems is it, not that he could help it.

Yes it was sad about Lucas, he was a feisty cat and was probably chasing an arch enemy at the time as the other cat was found waiting by his body. That is the trouble with male cats, they fight and wander. He is missed though.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 12 May 2017 22:57

Hi all.

Sallie, I am so sorry to hear of Alun's stroke and hope everything will be under control soon with no further problems found. He will have to rest and let his speech and swallow recover. I expect he will be put on blood thinners to lessen the chance of further clots.

It's another worry for you. I hope baby arrives soon, and life gets less stressful for you all.

K. had a physio appointment today because of his knees, it's osteoarthritis exacerbated by the fact he lost a kneecap in a drunken fall 40 years ago. He struggles to walk at times and stumbles about like an old man, as if he is drunk. It's embarrassing to be out with him, he won't use a stick so people stare and think the worst. I struggle to help him along because of my own osteoarthritis and fibromyagia. I hope these leg strengthening exercises will help him. I plan to do them to to help my knees.

He is due to have the other cataract removed on May 24th and a few days later has to have an m.r.i. scan on his brain due to his memory problems, then he has to go to a memory clinic for more investigations. His anxiety problems are still evident and his sons don't make contact, so I am on my own with the responsibility.

He says he is grateful for my support so bought me a car at the beginning of May. It means I don't have to send him off on the bus to work if I need to get out.

He has booked a couple of weeks off in mid June so I am hoping I can find us a cottage to rent in the Peak District, so we can catch up with friends. I want to leave it as late as possible to book, to make sure his eye is ok and his Dad doesn't have any setbacks in the care home.

If we get away, maybe we can meet you again Sallie and anyone else around at the time, including Jacqui's meet in Sheffield

Ann, sorry about Lucas, losing a pet is always painful. I hope he died quickly with as little pain as possible.

.
Have a good weekend everyone
Love
Lizxx

Hi everyone

Sallie ..... so sorry ot hear of Alun's stroke, but glad that it was minor. Hope he recovers quick'lyl.

Also hope the baby arrives soon!

Ann ........... so sad to lose a cat that way.

Jean ......... you really are keeping busy making those cards!!

Liz ........ nice to see you on here. Hope the physio exercises help K and you ......... I have a whole set that I am supposed to do every day ....... for knees, back, hips, foot. You name, I probably have at some point been given an exercise for it :-D

we're having weird weather here .......... warm and sunny one day, then chilly and wet next day

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 13 May 2017 15:30

Liz hope that the exercises work for you OH, it must be frustrating for him not to be able to walk properly, good that he has shown he appreciates your help and support though. You have a busy medical month. Hope you manage to get your holiday ok.

Sylvia, sounds like your weather is similar to here, we never know what coat to wear when going out.

An easy day today as it is our last day. Dry but quite cold again. Tony and I drove to Lindal to Wax Lyrical, the candle factory outlet where I bought some oil for the diffusers and a vanilla candle in a jar. Stocked up as we won't be up here until October. We then drove to meet L and J and Jand Inara at Charnleys. Garden centre for lunch. Inara had chunky egg sandwiches which she really enjoyed. :-D :-D

Sallie hope Alun's BP is down further now and that he is improving.
Home now. Not a bad journey except for a holdup around Sanbach (J17 M6 where a car had broken down in the long roadworks (50MPH). We decded to have two stops on the journey now, it is much more relaxing. I have unpacked and a load of washing is in. The carden seems to have survived, unlike where we were they have had rain here which helped.
We had a very good week, no rain at all except for about 5 minutes of drizzle one day which just disappeared.
Back to all the jobs waiting for us and in 3 weeks time we are off again. :-)

Ann ................

you have just brought back a pile of memories!!! :-D

I lived in digs in Sandbach for 18 months from January 1965 to June 1966 ........... the house was on what was then the main road between Northwich and Chester. One of the other teachers and I got a flat in Hyde for my final year there.

I taught at Northwich County Grammar School for Girls.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 14 May 2017 21:12

Sylvia you would not want to be travelling in that area on the M6 these days. For some reason there are so many accidents between junction 17 (Sandbach) and J18. Hate travelling that stretch.

Sallie

Sallie Report 14 May 2017 22:56

Ann, good to know that you and T have arrived home safely and that you had a nice week with your daughter and her family.

Sylvia, hope that all is well with both you and your OH.

Liz, lovely to see you post, it's always nice to hear from you. I hope that K will soon improve and start to feel a lot better. Also hope that his eye operation goes well on the 24th May and the results of the MRI scan will be okay. Yes Liz if we can manage to meet you and K while you are up this way in June, we will. It is a long while since we met, so it will be lovely to see you both again.
Lovely that you have a car of your own now, I only wish that I had carried on with the driving lessons, but once I was told that I was ready to apply for my driving test, I chickened out. But now I wish that I had, especially when Alun isn't able to drive for 4 weeks.

Thank you all for your concern and kind thoughts for Alun. They are still having problems trying to keep his BP stable, so hopefully the consultant will be able to tell us what they can do next. Alun had his MRI scan yesterday morning, he should have had it on Friday but unfortunately the hospital was one of the hospitals in England that suffered from the cyber attack, so he to wait until yesterday. We also hope that he will get the results of the scan tomorrow.

I also have an appointment with Joanne (Psychologist) tomorrow morning, so Jennie will pick me up as she has our car while Alun isn't able to drive.

Still waiting for the baby to arrive, but at least if it doesn't come before they are going to induce Christie on Tuesday. Hopefully things will become less stressful over the next three to four days.

Jean, I hope that all is well with you and J.

Will let you all know as soon as I have an news.

Take care everyone.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx <3 <3

Sallie I cant believe I have missed so much news on here the internet in here has been very bad and wasnt able to get on for days anyway I was sorry to hear about Alun, but reading more I see he is doing much better thank the Lord, we will keep you and him close in our prayers,

Ann I hated that motor way too also the M62 which is over the pennines its a nightmare to travel on, winter especially bad.. D usually goes that way to work in Mirfield.... glad you had a good week and not too much rain, I dont know you two are off again soon, how do you manage to keep calm I used to get on edge when we went away.I am sure you will have a lovely time missing you already <3 <3

Liz you and K are lucky to be close to some nice places to visit, my one regret was never getting to any meets, still it was always nice to get news about them ...Enjoy your car I like Sallie never did finish my driving big regret. same with swimming.

Needless to say the craft room has benifited from my absence from being on here, so much so I have run out of envelopes cello bags and glue :-0 :-0 :-0

take care everyone love Jean xx <3 <3

AnninGlos Report 15 May 2017 13:23

Sallie fingers crossed for the scan results for Alun then, and for the induction of baby too.

Jean, running out of envelopes and cello bags, yes I can understand that, but Lol!!! running out of glue!! Now you will just have to put an order in and have a rest while waiting.

Liz. We are pretty certain that Lucas would not have felt anything, Daughter and her partner picked him up from the man who stopped and wrapped him in a towel and put him in his car boot and phoned her (he was not the one who hit him they didn't know who that was, obviously somebody who didn't bother to stop). Couldn't blame the motorist for hitting him, it was very dark and he was jet black, either chasing or being chased by another jet black cat. (They often chased each other). Apparently the other cat was by his body when the man found him. However, that motorist obviously couldn't be bothered to stop and see if he was ok and use the phone number on his collar to phone.

JustJean Report 15 May 2017 16:04

Lol Ann my orders for envelopes and cello bags are usually 250 a time, the glue I use is cosmic shimmer and I have the largest one.... luckily the seller sent it quickly so now I have the glue ready for when the rest of my order arrives ;-) ;-) ;-)meanwhile I have been looking for something else I knew I had and found more tall cards including envelopes and cello bags so it looks like I can still do them :-D :-D :-D

Ann ................

I used the bus when I lived in Sandiway, nice and easy, it turned off to go into Northwich and stopped at the end of the street that led up to the school.

We did use the motorway when we lived in Hyde, and didn't like it. I remember one morning we got stopped by a major pile-up of about 60 cars, got to school about an hour late, and got the real b*****ks from the Head (who was a real b*) .... she obviously didn't believe any of the 3 of us (Head of PE, me, and a French exchange teacher).

The pile-up was on the news that evening because so many cars had been involved ..... and she made a comment the next morning about "so there was a big jam on the motorway"

No apology for the things she said though!

That Head used to strap the girls for misbehaving, and was actually had up in court in the early 70s when a girl's parents decided to take their daughter to the police.

There was about 30% turnover in staff the first year she was there, and then another about 40% the second year (including me!). Staff who had intended to spend their career there, were getting jobs elsewhere. I tell you, I was really glad that I had a good excuse to leave (marriage and leaving the UK)!! I still have contact with the PE teacher that I shared the flat with, and she did stay there until she retired .......... but she was always a calm person, kept her head down, and ignored all the goings on.

Sallie ........ we're doing well thank you. OH keeps himself busy going into the university for 4 or 5 hours every day! My arthritis hurts more ......... but we're all getting older aren't we?!

Jean ...... so you weren't out of envelopes at all :-D . Hope you are feeling as well as you can xxx
