BC FGS be careful of that doorstep of yours, in fact both of them, That back one is really steep! *frets*

I remember Norwich getting gridlocked about four years ago, 6 hours to travel 2 miles! The council were to blame then, they didn't get the gritters out until it had started snowing hard, and everyone was on their way home *tsk*

Hardly anything to speak of today, though I got allowed home at lunch because of the forecast, in case buses weren't running. Those with cars left early too, but it had stopped by the time they left.

Just got freezing rain here...brrrrr.

We never get our pavements gritted...never, it's treacherous when its compacted and frozen.

We had between 6/9 inches in London. It looks magical.

I cannot believe that no buses were running for most of the day.
We had been warned for a few days that this was coming but it seems the councils still did not grit the roads until it was actually snowing DOH.

I am really ashamed that our capital city cannot cope with a few inches of snow.

It has stopped snowing now but it is literally freezing. Should be fun tomorrow. Thank goodness I don't have to go out because my council will still not have the gritters out (:

On a serious less moaning note here....Good evening Jean, I must say I am more than a little concerned that gritters haven't been out yet..the near threat of ice in this town and the gritters are out and they do grit the pavements as well, if you stand in the centre of this town there is no way you get out of it without going up hill...now weather this makes any difference I don't but they are spot on with gritting as such..as you say its London and its not as if we havent been warned already about the weather..

I rang up Westminster Council in a real fury as I had slid my way down the street. When I asked why we had not been gritted she gave me some waffle about 'prioritising'....What does that mean, exactly, I asked icily (!)...She then put me on hold, and when she came back she said my street would be done today. That's funny, I said, because I havent told you what my street name is yet! lol BC XX

Hi Hayley, everyone

Just passing through on my way to bed, OH said our roads had not been gritted, nor had the main roads. We've never had the pavements gritted either.

Thank you for asking, Shimms:-) I have survived by holding firmly on to railings and skating most of the way on my leopardskin Doc Martens. Not very elegant when topped with a green peaked knitted hat.... but hey, it's a crisis....lol...BC XX

Hayley

I never put one thread up about Snow HONEST lol
never see it here in WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Now Heat is a different story lol (No thread though)
Must admit I do complain about the heat as I don't like it.
Much prefer the cold.

I do remember the bad year we had when I lived in UK though the year I got married 1963 was a mighty bad year and we got snowed in for three weeks. We had 15 foot drifts in Wales where I lived and had to dig ourselves out at times.I wanted to get married and couldn't even get to the Vicars house to organise it. Vicar couldn't get to the church to read the Bans anyway lol.
Waterfalls where I lived froze solid and what a spectacular sight it was too.
I did eventually get married. March 23rd and there was still lots of snow around

Have a nice day whatever the weather everyone.

Take Care in UK I hear it has been really bad overnight.

Regards
Jackie
