I hope the servicing off the heating went well.
It's an awful day here today as well, rain, overcast, cold and thoroughly miserable.
Going to do us a nice roast dinner tonight, pork chops, roast potatoes + parsnips, peas, carrots, sprouts. Anything to warm us up.

Well done Shelly, can you relax now?

The phone rang just after my last post and I've just managed to get back here.

Shelly, have you got 'adblock plus' on your Firefox?

I've put it on and all the dark colours on here have gone light, as well as the adverts going.

Mo in Kent Report 16 Feb 2010 18:19

Well done Shelly,on your results. See Pauline and I did help after all. lol
It would have been so nice for you,if you could have met up with your distant family member.
I found my grandmothers, brothers, grandaughter on this site. We exchanged photo's off them both, and my god, they were so alike.
We still exchange christmas cards each year. But I would love to meet her. It's daft really, she only lives up in London.
I know what you mean about the pension increase Rita. It's such an insult
the cost off living goes up,but the pensions dont go up to match it.
Both Rol'ys and mine will rise by less than a pound each.
We did not get the cold weather payment either,as we do not qualify,as we dont get any benefits. So I am dreading the bills when they arrive.

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 16 Feb 2010 18:28

Mo, I didn't know you had to be on benefits to qualify for the cold weather payment, I thought everyone on a pension got it.

Maybe we should all go round and help Rita to spend her pension increase.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 16 Feb 2010 18:33

Pauline,we missed it last year as well. We were told you had to be getting
benefits to qualify. I even googled it to make sure. We are not in receipt off
DLA or jobseekers allowance,or getting money from the DSS.
We have to plod on with our meagre pensions, and do not qualify as Roly has two small private pensions, from when he was working.

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 16 Feb 2010 18:52

That happened to my dad Mo, he had a small private pension and it put his income just above the level he needed to get help with things like reading glasses and dental treatment. By the time he paid for everything - he ended up worse off than the people who were on benefits.

Shelly it's an add-on from Firefox, you have to download it and then right click on any pages you don't want the adverts on. I don't have the banners across the top of the page now (friends reunited and the dating one) and I don't have the adverts on the left of the page.

The only thing that looks strange is that my 'submit box', 'reply box' and 'bookmark this box' is pale grey now.

Rita

Rita Report 16 Feb 2010 19:13

Mo that does not make sense to me everyone on pension is suppose to get cold weather payments not the £25 l think they give those to people on social but not sure of the age but my sister got her £250 cold weather payment as I did and my sister has private pensions as well as her stat pension.I am not sure if you have to be 60 or 65.
I would queiry that if I was you..
mine is just under a pound Mo. but next year I will get 25 pence.per week. it isnt the money 25 pence but that must cost them more to send you a letter telling you.
Shelly do you know where about in OZ the Barbers come from I asked because some time a go I put a request on Records and someone from there looked for something for me and she gave me addresses to get infor from one was a libarary but i have lost that, have you tried that thread

Shelly, google Firefox addons and click on the first one that comes up.

When the site comes up, type 'adblock plus' in the search box.

On the one that says ABP by Wladimir Palant - click on 'add to Firefox'

After you download it, you right click on anything where you don't want adverts on and then click adblock images.
