Mo in Kent Report 30 Jan 2010 21:11

Thats right Pauline smocking. I could not for the life off me remember the name off it.
I don't think they are taught that type off needlework anymore, which is a shame really.
There are a lot off youngsters off today, who cannot even knit.
My daughters are the same mind you, even though my mum and I,both taught them how to do it when they were young.
It's a bit off laziness, and the fact that it is cheaper to but them in some shops,ie Pr****k,or as my daughter calls it,Primani.

Enjoyed going to London yesterday eve with my friend. We met with another friend for her 50th but she didn't know her daughter had arranged it. Her face was a picture when she saw us sitting at the table !!! Nice meal of thai stir fry with prawns But too late for me to eat really. I was out til after midnight. Hubby had gone to bed and didn't wake when I got in. Still he left for work at 5:00 again.

Off to the wedding fair this morning.

Be back later.

Morning All,

Thanks for the tea Linda.

Rita, my feather friends (Pheasants ) where knocking on the window early this morning for their seeds but after pulling all my newly planted cuttings that they dug up with their sharp beaks I have been reluctant to feed them.
But I did feel sorry for them and gave in, as the ground here is covered in hard frost.

But watching them from the patio doors is a treat.
My granddaughter has named one Timothy so she will be in charge of feeding that one !

My Son & Daughter-law are out playing golf they are addicted that's all I can say as at the moment the golf balls are the same colour as the ground !!

Where is Sue these days ?

Old photos are just as good as info sometimes Lady.

Marilyn, we get a few pheasants in our garden but it's mostly magpies, crows and gulls. The magpies are always in big gangs, they chase all the other birds off so they can have all the food themselves - bullies.

Oh Linda, you dirty stoppy outer. No more coming home in the early hours of the morning!!

Rita, it's OK you gave the birds our toast, they need it more than we do.

Mo, I tried to teach my great nieces to knit but they didn't want to know, they don't want to learn to sew either. In fact their mother (my niece) can't knit or sew either.

Shelly, hurry up and finish that homework!!!!

I've done a bit of house....k this morning now having some lunch and reading through the thread

I got a message from a new hot match last week who is connected to my OH's family, she gave me a few names and dates which was nice of her. I've been checking them out.

Cooeee everyone.
Why is it all my hot matches are old ones. Yesterday when I checked,I had
matches that I received the year before last. And I know they are that old,as they were for a second cousin,on my dads side, who I did not know existed. We have been in contact with each other ever since.
How did the wedding fair go Linda. Did you get any new ideas from it.
It's been bitterly cold here today as well.
Has your snow gone yet Pauline.
Hi Yvonne,Marilyn,Rita. Whats happened to Shelly and Sue.

LindainBerkshire1736004 Report 31 Jan 2010 21:34

Hi Mo
The fair was good and nice to see the venue again Only 4 months to go now !!!
My daughter had seen most of the things before But we confirmed what the hotel does................ including dressing all the tables and putting out the place settings and table decorations.......... good to know.

She saw a new type of make up called airbrushing.

Realised we are getting a really good deal on the photographer.

Saw some new flower ideas.

And saw some beautiful tiaras. Got one for her with gold, crystal and burgundy tiny flowers in beading. Bargain. Reduced supposedly from £75 to £15 !!! Another stall had them from £100 to £150. So glad we didn't commit to that and saw this one.

So a good day then Sunday roast at a local pub with 4 of us , only £9 each for 2 courses

Mo in Kent Report 31 Jan 2010 22:09

That was a real bargain Linda. What colour are the bridesmaids dresses, I presume as the tiara has burgundy in it,that that will be the colour.
My daughter in law chose burgundy,as their wedding took place on the 6th March, and it was still pretty chilly then.
My daughter chose peach, but she married in May,and it was warmer.
We did all the catering ourselves, for our daughters wedding. There was 150 for the sit down meal, and an extra 50 on the top for the evening.
I have never seen so much food.
We made all the table decorations, button holes and favours for the tables.
There was so much material, ribbons and sugared almonds all over the kitchen work tops,we thought we would never get it all done on time.
It was so nice when our son got married, apart from contributing financially
DIL's family did the rest.
I am sure your day will be wonderful as well. But it's such a relief when it's over believe me.

LindainBerkshire1736004 Report 31 Jan 2010 22:52

Mo
Yes the bridesmaids(adults only) are in burgundy or wine as my daughter corrects me.
As you all know I made all the invites and I am now stitching the names for the tables.
No catering all to be done at the venue, pricey but less worry. About 85 for the sitdown and 30 more in the evening.
Her mother in law(to be) has taken on the table decorations.
Flowers need finalising.

Yes it was easier when our son married nearly 4 years ago. Plus it was in Yorkshire so too far to get involved.

Afternoon all

Linda, my younger sister had her bridesmaids in burgandy and her bouquet and headpiece had silk burgandy roses. They all looked beautiful.

Rita, my fil uses transport for hospital appointments and he gets it free, sometimes its a minibus and it can be a bit of a journey cos they pick other people up, perhaps you should ask at your doctors or the hospital about it.

talk later

I will have to do somthing I cannot keep affording that money I am only on a state pension I said to me sister good job i got a heating allowance.
my friend brought her sister over to meet me her sister is over on holiday from Cypus Papos she teaches scuba diving out there and she said if you go to the doctors out there they give you and appointment for the same day or the next she needed a MRI scan and only waited three days for it.

Rita, I'm sure you would be able to get free transport to and from your hospital appointments. I always get offered free transport for my son's appointments. I take him by car because the free service takes too long. It's like Yvonne says - they pick up other people, so you travel around lots of areas first. It would make it a long day for you but it wouldn't cost you anything.

I spent most of the morning clearing snow away, then went to the shops - when I got back the sun had melted everyone else's snow. I could have saved myself a job if I'd just left it.

Linda, that tiara was a good find - great bargain, sounds lovely as well. Does the 85 at the sit-down meal include all of us?

Mo and Shelly must be helping Marilyn to find the jewels that her granddaughter hid.

Sue, get off FB and get back on here.
