Morning Jean and all others
Up earlyish to put the rubbish out before the men come.

Finished the jumper last night, just need to sew it together now and start a pile of warm clothing to send to Bulgaria in the Autumn.

Off to the Dr early this morning.
Little M is coming for a while this morning so her Mum & Dad can get some last bits sorted before they go to Singapore.

Hope everyone has a good day

Linda :-) <3

Morning everyone, hope your weekend went well.
Monday again, the weeks seem to be passing so quickly, will be Christmas again before we realise it.
I knew both my sets of Grandparents and my Great Grandparents on my Dad's side, I used to spend every weekend with my Great Grandparents and my Dad's parents, and several weeks of each year was spent travelling with them until I had to go to school, then it was just weekends.
I hope everyone is ok and not too many friends are poorly.
If you are going out today Go with God and in good health.
Jean xx :-) :-) :-)

Grandparents...

My maternal grandfather died before I was born.
My maternal grandmother died when I was 19, I was very close to her. I nearly fainted during the requiem and had to be taken out of the church.

My paternal grandfather died when I was 6, don't remember much about him.
My paternal grandmother died when I was 23, I was brought up across the road to her and often slept at her house. She was very good to me.

My grandmothers were both strong women who brought up very large families, and I'm proud to carry their genes in me.

Night everyone, sleep well.

Grandparents.

I have a' vague' memory of my Maternal Grandmother who stayed with us.
I have a' lasting' memory of my Maternal Grandmother when she died in our house. It was the first dead body I had seen......and I've never forgotten
it. :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0

How I wish I had had Grandparents to tell me tales and cuddle up beside. Although my Mum did all that there must be something special about a Gran or Grandad.

I am nice and relaxed , tea over, dishes in the dishwasher, kitchen tidied.
Feet up and a glass of Irn Bru,,,,,,,,,,,,Magic ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Hi Dermot
My Fathers family
Grandad died 1957 when I was 5, my Nan (his wife ) died in 1993 I was 42.................. all my children remember her.

My Mothers family my "real " Grandfather died in 1963 in America(but he was divorced) from my Grandmother who died in 1986............. my children were young when she died only 7, 5 and 1yr old.

So they knew 2 Great Grandmothers.

I did not know mine at all. They all died before WW11.

But I had 3 more Grandfathers to my Mum's Mother(she married 4 times altogether !! Grandad (the one I knew best died in 1962 when I was 10, 3rd husband died in 1968, 4th husbsnd died in 1976 when I was 24(and already married). She unfortunately nursed the last 3 through cancer and was a very caring lady.

I did know all my paternal Great Aunts and Uncles there were 6 sisters and one brother. He died first in 1984 aged 72, then the Aunties in 1988, 1993(Nan), 1996, 2003 and 2007 aged 90. I still have one great Aunt living she will be 81 on Thursday this week.

It has been a miserable day here weather wise. Painted a wall in the bedroom this morning and knitting this afternoon other than when I was on the phone.

My parents are still being observed !!! Mum may go back to respite tomorrow......... Dad has to undergo a "procedure" and possibly in until Wednesday.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Hubby should be able to take me on Tuesday, to visit.

Catch up tomorrow.

Linda :-) <3

Oooh Pat how sad not to be able to remember your grandparents.
I used to sleep with my nan, in her double bed, and grandad had a single bed in the other room.
It was lovely to snuggle down, and feel the warmth of nan's body, very comforting to a very tired child.
When we lost Nan, my aunt took over. She would wait till my uncle got up for his early shift on the railway, then carry me into her bed, where we would snuggle down together for a few hours before breakfast.

Shelly, theres not much on the box, so everyone has probably got visitors.
Good luck with the 1891 census. I'm still no further with my lot, so have given up for now.

Evening all,
Dermot I would love to have known my grandparents better. On my mums side my gran and grandpa died when I was only 6 and within 6 weeks of each other and on my dads side my gran died when I was 24 and I never knew my grandad. ( My dad didn't know him either) He left the family home when dad was a little baby. I aim to find out about him though :-)

Been windy and pouring with rain all day :-( Did all the ironing, nearly 4 hours of it and then fell asleep in my chair so OH went and got us a chinese takeaway for tea.

Linda, i hope your parents are ok. It must be such a worry for you being some way from them. I hope they will both be home together soon and fully recovered. ((((hugs)))) to you and them.

Cath xx
