Dermot Report 15 Jul 2011 13:49

Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins on the ice in Antarctica - where do they go? Well, wonder no more!

It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life. The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well as maintaining a form of compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life.

If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into and buried.

The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing: -

"Freeze a jolly good fellow"

"Freeze a jolly good fellow."

Then they kick him in the ice hole.

My post could read the same as Pauline's !!!

Except we have already been shopping and now have friends coming to dinner about 7:00 pm. Doing prawn starters, then lamb steaks (pork for me) with veg and apple pie for pudding or fresh fruit (for me)

Garden looks tidier and washing blowing in the sun so should soon be dry

Enjoy the afternoon as Pauline said the weather tomorrow is looking pretty grim

Linda :-) <3

Hi all.

I'm busy working in the garden, just popped in to empty the washer.

Hope you have good weather at the caravan Agatha.

Not sure what the weekend weather's going to be like for everyone else but it looks like we're going to have a lot of rain up here tomorrow.

Take care everyone..... <3 <3 <3

Edit: Stephen, the couple who won the 161 million are from Falkirk, isn't that where you live, or is it Stirling? I wonder if you know them, you'll find out today!

Stephen, are there no riding schools near to you, it is a good form of exercise. and a nice hobby.
Do you know if any farmers in the area allow vardos to park up on their land for a night? That is if there are any farmers where you are.
Just looked at the weekend forecast, we will be staying home, heavy rain forecast.
Night everyone.

Evening folks,
hope everyone is well :-) :-) :-)
Been a lovely sunny day down here.
Jean I hope all went well for you today.
Doing a bit of research tonight, found some more ancestors up in Scotland so may need to call on Stephen for some help at some point.
I have been given a lovely photo of my OH's Great Grandfather when he was a young man at Kneller Hall school of military music. I'm chuffed to bits with it and currently trying to find out what instrument he is holding in photo.
Enjoy your evening all

Agatha,

Like the rest of the UK our weather in Scotland can vary a lot.....three seasons in one day.....not uncommon.

The West Coast and the Islands of the Hebrides are mild due to the influence of the Gulf Stream coming ashore. We have Palm Trees in Plockton......Hamish McBeth Country.

We all moan about the weather but our country is lovely and green and that's what makes it nice to live in the UK.

Time for Coffee. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

move your feet about while your sitting on the couch Pat, that way it looks like you've been walking.
I've just had my appointment to see the breathing physiotherapist, she is going to learn me how to breath, I must have been doing it wrong :-D
It says in the Hamish Macbeth books Stephen, that some of scotland is very mild weathered, Hamish lives in Sutherland.

Good afternoon to anyone who looks in !!!
Hope all goes well today Jean
Hope your jobs are getting done Stephen.

It is a beautiful day here today after a cloudy start at 5:00 when hubby left for his last day on early shift. Then he has 4 days off and boy does he need them.
Saw my brother and his family last night they are well. And he had seen Mum and Dad that afternoon. He think s they are OK and Mum is much more responsive if she can see you in person. Hubby said maybe we can get across to see them next Monday before he goes back to work.

I have been in the garden this morning cutting back a Camelia which was threatening to take over my front room window!! Then I sat in the back garden and finished the second book on Egypt. Just the third one to go.

Off to my friend for tea and a chat this afternoon.

Then back to a salad for dinner tonight.

Have a nice afternoon all

Linda :o) XxX
