Rita,
I didn't know that about the squirrels.
I've just booked my Christmas break. My sister will be in Germany. My niece's baby is due the 17th December. I'm going to Chester 23rd Dec. to 27th Dec. with the same firm I went to I.O.W with. Would you believe that there were very few single places left anywhere. The other place was I.O.W. I didn't fancy that in the winter :-(
Dermot I'm sure in days gone by there was such a union. Back to my book.

Hello all.

I could hear you calling Marilyn and I could smell the biscuits from Mo. lol

I haven't posted on here cos I have had nothing worth saying to be honest.

I dont want to keep moaning about all my aches and pains, cos that is just plain boring.

When I find something interesting to say. I will be back.

Hope everyone is well and happy.

I do intend to write and complain about that journey it was a nightmare. I am going through a brochure now a local one and they send a taxi to collect you and bring you back by taxi..
you live and learn that comes with old age.

while in the isle of wight we saw notices up all over the place informing you of Red Squrirels . we were told it is the Solent that protect the greys from coming over and wiping the red ones out. I learned more about Red Squrriels than I knew. for instants they have dreys and nest in them. they produce two or three kittens(as they are called ) a year these are born bald and have no teeth and are blind for three weeks after they are born I also found out they build more than on drey as they get infected with fleas and when they get too many fleas they move to the next drey.
Where you told about that Pat ?did you see any red s while there I didnt but some of the others did.

Rita, I got myself a book-mark with the wonders of the I.O.W. I didn't know about the spelling though.
Oh well Dermot, I'll just make Friday my fish and chip day instead of Monday!

Dermot

Dermot Report 19 Jul 2011 17:05

Catholics are being reminded by those who think they know everything of the immanent reintroduction of the 'no meat on Fridays' rule.

I'd like to remind them that, in this house, there are lots of other days when 'meat' is not on the menu! And furthermore, there is a thing which can be found in some UK homes these day, known as 'the hunger'.

Anybody fancy a nut roast instead?

The six wonders of The Isle of Wight

Cowes you cannot Milk.

Freshwater you cannot drink.

Lake you can walk through and not get wet,

Needles you cannot thread.

Newport you cannot bottle.

Ryde where you can walk.

and out of interest The Wight in the Isle is spelt that way instead of White as it is a Roman spelling of White..

The out-come of the little green cabbage like plant that was growing in the little front garden I have , It started with the birds dropping a seed.? and I found a small cabbage growing as it grew bigger I was going to pull it up.
but was asked by some people around here not too . they all wanted to see what it would turn out like.? one said it was a cabbage another broccli another thought it was a cauliflour and so it went on what it might be.
when I left for my holiday it looked quiet big infact it was overtaking my Fushia and Flock plants. I came back to a tall thick plant with a yellow flower on the top.,I thought it was Rape and it was, how come this plant still flowered when the ones in Norfolk would have been picked and the rest would have been brown by now. I didnt see any Rape plants on the Isle of wight. when the gardeners came to mow the lawns this morning I asked one of them if he would pull it up for me. I said it is rape and must have a big root on and as I had hurt my foot and back could not pull it up..
He did. I had to laugh when he asked me which one it was ? I said the big yellow top one with cabbage leaves. he pulled and when I saw the root I nearly had a fit. it was massive.
and has left a big space in the garden
