Rita Report 28 Jan 2010 21:38

Hi Girls
I am jusy drinking some Horlicks thought it might help me sleep tonight I feel shattered but have done nothing perhaps that why .
Marilyn I didnt know there were war gaves in Limmasol just shows you , you can find lots of interesting fact on here.
Mo I thought you would be out playing darts . I expect Shelly cobbled the stitches up and it rubbed his bum. poor chap.,
no wonder he wont wear them.
I recall when I first got married it was in March 1951 having no brothers in the family (well one was born and died before I was born ) I didnt know much about men and my husband gave me his trousers to press well two pairs actually and I use to wet a cloth and place it on the trousers and then run the iron along . I was so pleased with myself I hung them up on a clothes hanger and waited till he was going to put them on he was going to a firms meeting that night, he came in with his trousers on and said looks great my mates are going to love this. I felt so proud till he said the only thing wrong is the creases are suppose to be at the f ront not at the sides good job he could see the funny side of it.

Good luck Rita with your appointment.

Shelly suppose I consider myself a clever clog now .....Ha Ha !!!
When I told hotel guests that I was Grave hunting they all thought it was funny..... or...... strange !

I wonder what time Rita gets back from the hospital, hope everything went OK.

I had a laugh at you pressing your hubby's trousers the wrong way Rita, I hope he didn't go out like that......lol

Marilyn, it's a bit cold for planting cuttings, have you put them straight in the garden?

Linda, that holiday sounds great, just another 4 weeks of this horrible cold and you'll be sunning yourself in the West Indies, have you got room for a little-un in your case?

Can't see Shelly, Sue or Lady's names on today, they must have rushed out to work early.

Mo's name isn't on yet either but I know what she's doing, she's packing up to move house.

Did you see the left-hand side of Eddie Murphy's house, the bit next to the pool?

Well, Mo's moving into there at the weekend. I'm moving into the right-hand side, furthest away from the pool. I'll wait till next weekend though, can't all move in together, he might notice.

Mo in Kent Report 29 Jan 2010 14:53

Well Pauline I am all packed and ready to go. I promise not do any naughties in the pool before you get there ,must keep it nice and clean for you.
Rita, you bought back some memories when you said about the trousers.
When we got married,I was seventeen, and had never in my life ironed a shirt, let alone a pair off trousers. I pressed the trousers, without a damp cloth, and talk about a lovely shine to them. Well Roly was in the air force at the time, and had to be on parade the next morning. There he was at midnight,re-pressing them himself. I didn't ever have to do them again.lol
But I have to these days, now that I know what I have to do.
I hope Rita reports in soon,to let us know how she gets on. Even though she won't get her results just yet.
Lucky Linda, that holiday sounds grand. Mind you,Pauline and I,will be loth
to leave Eddies place. lol

I m back got back half an hour ago but needed a cup of tea I had had nothing to eat or drink since 9 this morning. It was different at the royal surrey I had to strip which I dd'nt like and then they injected me with iodine they were nice people though and took care of me. I have to hope now that things have not grown. I wont know that till Tuesday Week when I have to go to St Lukes.
I got home anf found an email from my son who is a paramedic he had an accident yesterday while working tore his achilles he was rushed to Charing Cross Hospital and put in plaster till today today he went back and was told they could do surgery but there was a chance he would get an infection so he declinded that and has to go back every two weeks for replastering it will be eight weeks while he is like this on crutches he said I have never had pain like it. I am so worried as he lives on his own so how the hell is he going to manage I hope he gets paid by the Service. it is one thing after another in our fmaily lately.

Mo in Kent Report 29 Jan 2010 15:13

Rita, would you be able to go and stay at your sons for a while to help him out. It would save you from worrying.
If he had the accident at work,I would have thought that it would have been entered into the accident book, and he should get paid,as the injury was incurred at work.
Try not to worry to much love. Give him a call to put your mind at rest.

Pauline
my husband was so fussy with his clothes being in the Army must have done that. he did them his-self would you remember when the shirt collars were never laying flat they were rolled and the edges were pressed the suit jackets had the same rolled collars at that time the blokes wore bow ties they were all the go then
well i forgot and pressed his collar on both the shirt and the suit jacket he was not impressed I asked him" are you sorry you married me "he said it makes life worth living wonder what you are going to do next later on in life he didnt bother at being so particular except his trousers I ironed the crease down his Jeans and of course should not have done..still never mind we were together 38 years before he died,. so I could not have been that bad Rita

Lets hope his daughters do look after him Rita. Us mums do worry dont we.
What about the collars the men wore years ago, with the collar studs. My uncles worked on the railways, and wore the shirts all week, but changed the collars daily.
My aunts used to have to starch them, and my uncles used to moan if they were over starched,as they scratched their necks.
Not sure if I prefer the old type shirts or the new ones, where I still have to scrub the collars.
