Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 8 Nov 2008 04:39

Well I found a toyboy, I was 49 and he 42, but at the time my health was a lot better, and I had far more stamina than he did, he was always asleep in the chair, or maybe I just bored him lol

I am always told I don't look my age, but because of the fm cfs and oa I can't be as energetic as I would like. I have to say I find the age gap more obvious now, as I am a pensioner and he still has 11 yrs to work. I don't want to be his housekeeper, secretary etc etc till he retires, by which time I will be 72, and probably too worn out to enjoy any spare time with him.
Would be so much better if he was not at work six days a week (from choice not necessity, he earns more than enough in a 5 day week but is greedy).

On second thoughts, maybe I prefer him out of the house, he drives me nuts when he is here 24/7. lol

You enjoy life Rose, and see how things go, don't worry about age gaps, Oh and I am not answering the other question lol

My parents have a 20 year age gap (dad older)...thought they didn't stay together. My dad has recently married someone 25 years younger. My mum is the same age as my dad's son from his first marriage and his new wife is the same age as his daughter from his first marriage. How about that!

Night Uggers..........thanks for lifting the" dismal " : )

A very good film that involves the age gap issue is " Harold and Maude " made in 1971......I remember seeing it years back and it is heartwarming.

Oh, really, Maz?

OH's paternal grandmother was 13 years older than the grandfather. Yes, it did cause problems to the point where a 3rd cousin who contacted me through Hot Matches knew nothing about this branch of the family. My FIL told me that the family would have nothing to do with his parents because of the age gap and because she had been on the stage.

a little song about the 'older woman' !

Lyrics to Lemon Haired Ladies :Dory previn

whatever you give me
i'll take as it comes
discarding self-pity
i'll manage with crumbs
i'll settle for moments
i won't ask for life
i'll not expect labels
like lover or wife

if showing affection
embarrasses you
i will not depend
and i will not pursue
for you are
younger than i
younger than i
younger than i
and i am
wiser than you

the one a.m. phone calls
you're here then you're gone
come when you need me
i won't carry on
i'll simply accept you
the way that you are
unsure and unstructured
my door is ajar

those lemon haired ladies
of twenty or so
of course you must see them
just don't let me know
don't let me know
whatever you do
for you are
younger than i
younger than i
younger than i
and i am
weaker than you

i'll give you a year
maybe two
maybe three
then what will happen?
where will i be?
you'll still be a boy
but what about me?
what about me?
what about me?

why must you treat me
with so little care
i've so much inside me
i'm aching to share
why am i constant
to someone like you?
children don't know
the meaning of "true"

those lemon haired ladies
why must you seem them?
all that i want in your eyes
is to be them
time is on their side
that's all i lack
i wish you would just
go away
no
come back
come back
go away
come back
go away

what in hell can i do?
i'm supposed to be wise
for i am
older than you
older than you
you so self-centered
the games that you play
do as you please
you will anyway
of course you will see them
no use to pretend
for they are
younger than i
younger than i
those lemon haired ladies
and they will
win in the end.

When one of my ancestors got married in 1896, She was 30 and her husband was 84!
They already had five children, and had another 2 after they married. He died 12 yeas after they married aged 96!
They had been together at least since she was 19 and he was 73 (Going by childrens ages).

35 years is a hefty gap - did it work well enough?

Oh that's a bugger Rose lol. This is the problem I have cos my oh doesn't look his age and I look older:(

Rambling

Rambling Report 7 Nov 2008 22:48

yes we do ....we know all the same music and 'cultural' reference points, and in any case he is far more 'mature' than me lol.... just that he happens to look about 10 years younger than he is lol
