Some religions and cultures say that when the body dies the soull first visits the place where it was most happy and content in life
Think my soul will either visit the Yorkshire Dales (that last glorious summer before leaving school ) or the Norwegian Artcic and sub Arctic
Where were you happiest?

Ah Lady Shimmer think you've caught the idea,
Happiness is where you can say it was a good time.
mY kids were born all over the place, but we all had fun in the Arctic,

We lived in Hammerfest for a while and also Kirkenes which are North of the Arctic circle
most of the time eight years or more in Namsos which is just below the Arctic Circle
Miss the light and dark, summers that some times never started, bumping into elg, lynx (once), knowing 99.99% of the world 's population was below you.
Going for walks and never meeting any one else.
Knowing your kids were safe.
I could go on forever reindeer mountains, glaciers all the turisty stuff but also coming home at night seeing the sky alight with Northen lights, and the snow sqeaking that it's minus 25 C

:) Waves to Ann ~~ morning Ann, how are you. xxx

Oh Terry,

It sounds wonderful ... scenery, nature at its best, peace and quiet ... no hustle, bustle.

Most people are so busy nowadays, never time to see what is around them, to absorb the atmosphere, appreciate the beauty that surrounds them.

One of my most favourite places is the Embankment in London ... I adore history ... the world flies past me, yet I am 'lost', imagining how it once was, sketching architecture and more. xxx

Hi Lorraine
but it is where your soul would return and looks like there First love is one of the things that stay with you you might not remember the name but the emotions, grief I can feel my heart aching again.

JustJean Report 17 Aug 2008 11:14

Morning all, my places would be north and south wales,I can feel myself relax as soon as we arrive.
although the yorkshire dales come close.

Terry

Terry Report 17 Aug 2008 11:19

It was Lady Shimmer but it also had its other side of wishing for summer in May when some years it was still snowing.
Embankment , wish I could sketch, and history, living in another country gives you different perspectives on Battles and things
Perhaps my soul wil visit with a sketch pad finally able to make a picture

its only me

:) Morning Jean (((hug))) xxx

Shimmer has been to North Wales Pwhelli near Snowdonia ... has been going to S Wales for more years than she cares to remember, adores it there. xxx

Lorraine ... is there a place where you stayed, felt loved, have memories, did not want to leave or is that Cornwall where you were with your first love?
xxx

Terry hun ... Shimmer did not discover until later in life that she could draw ... has never stopped since.
Have you tried sketching, do you doodle ... doodling is art ... It does not matter if we make a 'mistake', mistakes are meant to be ... when you look back you suddenly realize that they have improved your work, tis what I used to teach the children.

Perhaps you could practise sketching from one of your favourite photographs, it might help you feel closer to the place you loved and miss now. xxx
