That is very sad Romany Star, you can replace things you can't replace people

Joan, that reminds me of a distant relative in Newport, her house was on fire and her 16 yr old son ran back in to get his rugby boots....he never made it out alive. So sad.

we have in place a fire escape plan, which we talk about fairly regularly..had 3 close calls over the years.
1. Eldest when small put a cushion up against the fire guard because he was too hot, it caught fire.
2. Child left the heat on under a frypan he had cooked burgers in, all night!
3. when we had the house rewired electrician found the previous occupants had used the ceiling rose in the kitchen as a junction box, it was all black and crispy. (we now have mains fire alarms)

When the eldest 2 were little we heard a rumpus in the middle of the night eldest (31/2) was trying to shove his brother (18months) through the open bedroom window because he thought he heard the fire alarm, luckily we lived in a bungalow..

As a naval firefighter, we were trained that whilst life was important a fire onboard a ship may mean that you would need to sacrifice shipmates to save the ship...Thank God I was never called on tock shipmates in a burning compartment. What would I save.?...just me her and the insurance policy
