Uggers Report 24 Apr 2008 19:36

As some of you will know, although I haven't liked to mention it myself, I am going into hospital for a *very serious* operation. I'm sure everything will go swimmingly but just in case, I would just like to say a few things.

Firstly, a big thank you to Jean and Maz for their threads - although one was much nicer than the other - and to everyone for their thoughts:)

Secondly, if things go awry - and the nurse at my pre-op did mention several things, all made worse my my advanced years - I would like Abide With Me, The Day Thou Gavest and Bananarama's Moving On. Veiled hats for all the ladies and lots of sobbing, preferably with wailing.

Thirdly, if the worst comes to the worst my departure will leave a gap in the lives of a few people from GR. Most of my mates from here are beyond doing anything for but there are a few special duties I take care of and would like volunteers to replace me in the following -

- general *looking after* of Linda in Bolton. She's a sad soul and really can't be trusted around the internet without guidance from someone else.

- keeping Roxanne away from political or animal welfare debates. She gets very excitable and has a tendency to offend.

- going on days out with Jeannie Jean. These are mostly very pleasurable but she does have a tendency towards mardiness, in which case just smile.

- being rude to Maz. A very easy task. There's so much ammunition.

- listening to Lynda on the phone. Or pretending to. You will need about 10 hours a week for this job.

- keeping up intellectually and dramatically with Gwynne. One of the harder jobs....

- being younger than Pat.

I think that's about it. I expect at least some of the London lot to volunteer for these important positions but to be fair most of them aren't capable of looking after themselves so won't really be considered....

Course you can Meer me dear. There's 27 quid in my Post Office savings account. It's all yours but not to be spent on dead rodents.

Oh I think so, Ann:) I saw one on it's way to Mortlake yesterday and it was very me.

I shall tell oh, Linda - he may want a few of them himself.

Also I am a bit worried about SueMaid. There's nothing needs doing but she does worry me....

you will be fine, we don't get rid of you that easy!!

You take care, will be thinking of you. And don't bully the nurses. Not that you will be able to raise your voice.

Thank you, Ann:) The nurses on the ward are great so I will be a very good boy.

Ohhh David,

I, too, had my tonsils out in my 'older' years... ooooooooohhhhh!!!

Cornflakes with not alot of milk and orange tasting chewing gum.

On the positive side... you will feel so much better for being rid of them.

All the very best.
