I think serial liars do not really set out to con people
but are victims of low self esteem and try to make their lives seem more interesting etc., My daughter head a friend at school who was a lovely girl but told loads of lies, mainly to make herself look more exciting. Her friends were not taken in by this and tolerated her. I really think she almost believed them herself. Other types of liars lie because they have no sense of conscience, i.e. criminals.

hi tor~~

i don't do lies there is absolutely no point in it whatsoever- my face would give me away anyway!!and besides life is too complicated at times to be bothered with remembering what you have or haven't said.

i've worked with quite a few (and still do) the stories get more elaborate each time and there is always some sort of drama going on, or not as the case may be.anything for a bit of attention in my opinion.

when one person in particular tells me something i switch off and nod or say yeh oh yeh.but they defnately do not pull the wool over my eyes even though they may think they have.

Honesty goes hand in hand with trust I think........................ being lied to breaks that trust.

Once broken it can sometimes never be mended and causes so much hurt to the people involved.

That is so well said Kitty... that is how I feel.

Loyalty, honesty, respect.... what kind of relationship would there be without them?

Or am I too demanding?
no answers necessary, they would not change me... I'm afraid I am pretty rigid in this respect.

Yes Chris, I'm sure we must all do that to prevent hurting people... but I'm sorry, I do not consider that lying.
Although it undoubtedly is!

And IAN..... I really believe that about you... in 32 years... what a man! ;-0)

I feel that, in the interests of informed debate and because I can't help myself, that the voice for the opposing view should be heard.

Now consider this.

If everyone was honest, what sort of world would we live in, eh? I mean, there would be hundreds of thousands unemployed. No police, no security guards, no burglar alarm manufacturers, no attack dog trainers, no heavy duty padlock manufacturers - the list just goes on and on.

You would miss the merriment of the corner shop keeper holding your £20 note up to the light every morning when you go for your 20 Lamberts. There would be no traffic wardens to hurl abuse at. Honesty boxes in the tube station instead of ticket machines.

Sandwiches with fillings right through them instead of just the edges. Sales in stores with genuine reductions. Imagine the effect on politicians!

No, come on, fairs fair. Dishonest can be good.

Oh Ian..... you've won me over. ;-0(
It is so awful when I find myself to be so wrong.

Hands up for a completely dishonest world folks?

I don't think they are gonna vote for yah Ian............
