Very important I would rather have a thief than a liar. Ay least you know where you stand with a thief. Can't understand why anyone tells lies. OK I know the PC brigade with say we lie to children about Santa but that is totally different.

Mrs. Blue Eyes Report 20 Apr 2008 09:51

If asked a direct question like "is this dress to tight" I would say yes, bu if it was phrased " do you like my new dress" and the person wearin it obviously loves it I would find something to like, what a lovely colour.etc. I'm not lying but not hurting feelings either.

sometimes the mouth is best kept shut......

Uggers Report 20 Apr 2008 09:57

It would be surprising if anyone said honesty wasn't important to them, wouldn't it?

I think it's one of the most important things in life but I agree with Blue Eyes that there are circumstances where it needs tempering.

Honesty is very important to me, as is not hurting people's feelings unecessarily. Like Blue, I would be very careful if someone asked me what I thought of, say a new dress. I may hate the pattern, but it may be to their taste - it's a matter of personal preference. At times like these I employ the wonderful phrases
'Like nothing on earth' and 'Out of this world'.
Different meanings - horrible and lovely - but essentially, taken just as words they have the same meaning - 'Not of this planet'!!!

My children know that if I describe something they have bought as 'Out of this world' I may not like it!!

Maddy................same here:)

I'm also hopeless at keeping secrets as I chat away and let slip things that I shouldn't:(

I have got better at thinking before I speak, but it's hard for me not to wear my heart on my sleeve.

The worst kind of dishonesty is being two-faced..................those type of people are the ones I avoid like the plague.

I can see what Blue eyes means and NO I would not like to hurt anyones feelings. It's difficult. Does anyone know what the difference is between a fib and a lie or even white lie or are they all just lies?

I can't be doing with lyers and why should ..I .and I am with Puss with the Hypocrisy bit as well....oh what a wicked webb we weave when at first you start to deceive....as the bit the dress being too tight I would rather be told the truth than waste my money...a few weeks a go my sister was buying a top and I told her it was very nice but the style was wrong for her big belly....she insisted on trying it on and then agreed with me.....pays to be truthful I learnt that at a very early age by retuning someones purse with all her christmas shopping money in it..
