No not really. I am very disheartened by this country at the moment but I couldn't be without my family and be truly happy. Maybe before I had the kids......but not now xx

Muffy I totaly understand!! I'm feeling disheartened too - especially having two young children and being paranoid about letting my 10 year old out!! x

You have to live your life.

There is no rewind in life - if you want to do something do it!

I wished I had done a lot of different things in my life and now it is too late.

OH and I are now too old to emigrate to Australia - we too are very disheartened with this country these days.

We might even consider going to Ireland, my OH's homeland! xx

Not exactly emigrating - but I am planning towards leaving the mainland and moving to Northern Ireland .............

My elder brother is planning to move to the South of France.

We just want better lives for ourselves.

Yes we have seriously thought about it.
We actually were accepted by Australia, But then we backed out as my partner was a bit concerned about leaving everything behind.
i would go tomorrow if I had my way.
My partner has family in Melbourne, So we would have gone there.

Harp I love Ireland best of luck to you - I know what you mean life passes us by so quickly - I just wish I could persuade mum and dad to come - but no such luck - it's ironic doing the tree thinking about and wishing I could have met all those ancestors - whilst thinking of leaving my own mother and father!!! xx

My uncle went to canada in the 50's he always wanted to come home as he called it but his kids all married and had children so he stayed.

My friend went to Australia hated it and came back.

My Aunt went to Australia and loves it.

I've never wanted to, love England despite it faults and could never leave my family, I always said if i did move away I would go to Ireland love the country and its not too far to visit family.

Dawn dont who told you you had to be under 47 to go to Australia my aunt went there when she was in her 50s

Hello, I DID emigrate 12 years ago and although very hard at first as missed family and friends, absolutely love it now and am so glad we did it.

My Mum, MIL, BIL and family, Cousin and family and brother and family all now live over here too....all following us.....only have an elderly Aunt in Bath, and my Father in law (who comes out for a holiday every year) over in UK now.....

Funny how life turns out...

Sal in Sydney Report 24 Mar 2008 22:17

We definately have a better lifestyle and so do the kids.....more to do as it is more of an outside lifestyle.

I came back 5 years ago and found it very expensive, and sorry to say quite gloomy as people were fed up with their jobs and quite miserable.

Yes, very glad that we came, although, as I said it is not easy......it takes a good couple of years to settle for some.
