Forgot to say, Caz, if/when I get a flat, I'll be calling you all down to help be decorate as I think my bro has just about had enough now LOL.

Hey everyone. Sorry, Liz no good news yet...in fact the new woman told me that it's likely to be the END of next week before I find out as the workman are off until Tuesday.

It's incredibly frustrating. We were talking about how stupid it is to not inform the person until after the work is done when you consider a disabled persons unique needs, surely it would make sense to allocate and then determine the person's needs. Crazy!

My big bro came home from saudi this afternoon and then me and parents went out for some bits and stuff. Ended up getting home at 6pm. Then went back out to collect mum's curtains that the lady had found in debenhams. Got them up to the bungalow and discovered I miscalculated and they're far too big. so they'll have to be swapped. Was served by mum's friend's granddaughter who I remember being born and is now 19... I feel ooolllllld! :-( LOL

I'm shattered from running round. Got some nice Denby placemats that were half price and then 10% on card and further 10% as put it on mums brand new card that she signed up for LOL.... so saved a fortune on that.

Dunno how I'm gonna survive the next week, just waiting for them to phone me *sighs*

I've seen freeserve in action, it works well except no one wanted the last thing we put up lol. I have most furniture already and not sure if I'm gonna get a microwave at this point as I rarely ever use ours.

OH and Liz...it's even more confusing when we're talking to each other LOL.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 20 Mar 2008 17:25

So no news today then Liz?

Don't forget to look in charity shops especially for furniture - you can find some super bargains and they will deliver big items.

Enjoy the shopping. Try and use old furnishings i.e. curtains and bedlinen, I am sure your Mum wil have some spares, till you live there for a bit so you get the feel of the place and know best how the light is and what you want. Only get bare essentials to start with, a microwave too or do you have one.
Wish I was near, I would love to come and help you shop.

It's very hard for her. She's 18 months younger than him, but has pretty much been charged with looking after him since she was 3 years old. She's had to grow up far too quick and he's become very adept at tormenting her and making it so she gets the blame. She's a lovely girl.

And now I'm fretting over the ice cream idea as I was going to look at buying a posh-ish new sofa bed...and now I'm not so sure LOL. I can always put a throw over it I guess for the kids coming.

They truly are a law unto themselves, the woman I was dealing with is away from tomorrow so I think that's why she got herself confused as she's off on hols and didn't consider the others being off. Do you know the americans don't do easter bank holidays to the best of my knowledge. I'll have to check with a couple of others, but that's that I've come to know from one online friend.

I can't really blame the flat for my being confused...I've been like it for a long time LOL I expect everyone to be psychic.

I can't wait to do more shopping. I already have a chair (was £50 in a tesco sale they don't do them anymore) and a dining set (was 1/3 off in argos sale about a year ago). Crockery was a fiver, I needed new after I binned all my rubbish uni stuff in the skip when I was packing up to move home LOL.

Things I'll need:
*Sofabed (unless I wanna stick with the family heirloom for the time being)
*bed & bedding (because I'm finally getting a double at the age of 33 LOL)
*curtains & blinds
*coffee table
*book shelf (I don't have near enough for all my books)
*bigger TV
*hoover
*washing machine (might have mum's old one, might not)
*wardrobe (as I currently have a built in one)
*kettle
*some vases
*artwork (might do my own, will give me the inspiration to get back to it)
*Sauce pans (not that I ever intend on cooking lol)
*cooker (could have parents not-so-old one, but to be honest, I hate it LOL)

And then there's decorating!

Have I missed anything?

It's a blinky good job I have savings, isn't it? LOL

Not surprised you are confused Liz, you must be going mad wondering and waiting.
's ok - I don't mind being second on the list lol, just watch where you are putting that icecream, don't want sticky bedding lol

I bet your niece will have a great time with you, bless her, it must be hard for her at home sometimes, much as she loves her bro.

I would defo ring them today, don't leave it too late, as they might go home early - council workers are a law unto themselves sometimes.
Anyway the woman might have been confused too, and forgot she had Monday off lol

Will look out for news, what fun you will have shopping and such.
Fingers crossed,
Lizxx

p.s. I love icecream too.

~Summer Scribe~

~Summer Scribe~ Report 20 Mar 2008 02:15

LMAO, I actually didn't and thought I'd replied because I'd thought about it LOL. My eldest niece has first booking so you might have to take second, hun. Her brother has special needs and I told her she could come and stay to have a break for a night or two. Get some DVD's and stuff and pig out on ice cream :-)

I might just ring them this afternoon and find out. I thought that about Tuesday but then she confused me by her comment of 'end of this week beginning of next' LOL. It doesn't take much and I always forget to ask the important questions at the right time.

Hi Liz, I would check tomorrow because our local Council used to have Tuesdays off when there was a Bank Holiday Monday, not sure if they still do or if yours does, but at least you would know if you have to wait till Wednesday.
Having said that, it would be wonderful if they told you today it is yours!
Positive thoughts coming your way.
Lizx

p.s. note you 'missed' my booking lol

Dawnie, oh...that's a great idea, jam the phone lines and only let people in who are already in happy houses/flats LOL.

LOL. Thanks you guys, you're awesome. If willpower, crossed limbs and positive thoughts have any influence then there's little doubt it will be mine :-))

Daff, oh dear...well with you and Jax... gotta say it's a done deal really LOL. Will send the welsh rugby team round to uncross your bits PMSL

Merlin, I like your style, know anywhere I can learn how to pick a lock? PMSL

Sally, it really is the wait that's awful, the last week went so slow... honestly, thought it was gonna kill me, and now I gotta do it again unless I get a call tomorrow.

TW, that really sucks, I thought that they had an obligation to house disabled people if they were in an unsuitable property.

Thanks again, all :-))
