LOL Lynda ...made skin younger bought me out in spots! hehehe

Ill stick with my Clinique...... although saying that now my skin has changed as I get older I cant find a foundation that sits right. I dont wear a lot of make up so usually go without but would be nice to find one for those special occasions that dosent feel heavy.

What's the name of the Lidl's ones please? I have used some of their creams, the Cien ones?
I like Superdrug vitamin e creams for face and body. The 12 hr moisturiser has spf15. I have also started to use Olay anti wrinkle firming day cream if I am going anywhere special, that too has spf 15.

Oil of Ulay which goes under Oil of Ulan here in NZ was tested and considered the best in the Consumer Magazine. It beat all the expensive brands.

I had used it years ago and always thought how lovely my skin felt. It was also not too heavy or sticky as some are.

Dee, I'm a nearly 50 year old sun lover with no wrinkles. Maybe the Nivea? LOL

My first photography job I did was at a place that sold aromatherapy products, soaps, wheat bags etc and I was amazed to see they sold a lot of base products - beeswax pellets, mango butter, shampoo and conditioner bases etc - that you could just add your own choice of essential oils too.

The sizes varied but they were very reasonably priced considering the quantities you could get them in.

I have slightly odd "post-teenage" skin - I'm still a bit spotty now and then but I find I need to exfoliate very frequently ie. every day otherwise my skin starts to look quite grubby, for want of a better word. I've used Dead Sea Magic and the orange Clarins scrub (but am sticking to the Dead Sea Magik - neither bring me out in a rash or spots but the Clarins one the local beaty therapist suggested is £18 a go!).

I use Nivea and it is as good as, or even better than the more expensive creams that I have used in the past.

Mum bought me a HUGE tin of it from Mexico - It's very cheap there.

I remember years ago a friend house-sat for us when we were on holiday and his errrr "lady friend " left behind some very expensive moisturiser. Me being me decided to pinch a bit. BIG MISTAKE!!

Face burned and peeled - what a mess. The Body Sheop thought I had burned myself !!

Taught me a lesson I'll tell you - not sure which one though. lol

Not to be a "tea leef" maybe?

I am a convert to the clinique dramatically different as well Maddie Moo - I tried the Boots one that everyone raved about - it made me look years younger - brought me out in spots and blotches so I looked like an adolescent all over again! So it was back to clinique.

I tried the Aldi one a while back and it made my face burn and itch.

I dont often use creams but recently started using the Boot 'protect and perfect serum'. Its great because it doesnt irritate my skin but its dear enough.

I have been lucky as my skin is quite firm but at 36 the only way is down from here!!!

love T.x

I don't think it's so much what you put on as the action of massaging it into your skin. That said I used to use a vitamin cream that was £3 for a likkle tube...didn't need very much of it though.

Hi Libby,
I use aqueous cream as a cleanser on my face - THEN use a moisturiser LOL the rest of my body isn't as sensitive.
My face must be the equivalent of a bog LOL
It's not gravity you need when things start to sag - it's weightlesness LOL

Libby Report 12 Feb 2008 23:11

I have used aqueous cream for years. I suffer from psoirasis although I have very raely had it on my face. The skin clinic I attend recommended it because it is just a moisturiser with nothing fancy added.

Still got crows feet though and my chin is starting to sag even if it is nice and soft.

Come to think of it nearly everything is starting/has started to sag.

Where is gravity when you need it? lol

Your next to last sentence Maddie - sooo tru - what suits your skin best,
I used Oil of Ulay for years - then developed an allergy. It was lovely stuff. *sigh*

My Nan used Oil of Ulay all her life and had wonderful skin - I dont think it it used to be as expensive as it is now - but I never got on with it.

I use clinique dramatically different moisturiser and have done for about 8 years - is that how long its been out?

It is expensive - but not in the long run as a bottle lasts me just under a year. It dosent leave a shine or my skin feeling heavy and in late 30's and a smoker I have yet to have noticable wrinkles.

But I think at the end of the day its what suits your skin best and how you feel about it - rather than the price.

I dont use cleanser or soap - I wash my face morning and night with a Teatree and whitchazel face foam (in a dispenser that costs about £4.00 and only use 2 a year) the combination of that rather inexpensive face soap and expensive moisturiser work well for me.

Hi Daisy,
Would this 'pure' base cream be aqueous cream?
I use it as it is, as a face cleanser, being very allergic to lots of things.

Chica in the sun ☼ Report 12 Feb 2008 23:02

I don´t use anything that may have been tested on animals for a start and don´t trust ANYTHING that is on sale in shops. I buy a big tub of "pure" base cream (no yucky chemicals stuff in it either) and add my own wheatgerm oil and extra vitamin E as a preservative and various essential oils that take my fancy. It is possible by using different oils to create a cream for greasy, "normal" or dry skin. Also antibacterial oils can be added for acne skin. There´s lots of advice on line how to do this. xx
