Following a number of emails to and fro I have had the response below from Estelle at GR.
She is asking for screenshots and we have decided that the best thing is for people to send them to me so that I can collate them before forwarding them on.

Basically if the problem occurs on your computer immediately do the following:

1. Press the Print Screen (PrtScn) button on your keyboard.
2. Open up a programme such as Microsoft Paint.
3. Click on the Edit menu at the top and select Paste.
4. On the File menu select Save As.
5. Type a name for the image and choose where to save it to.
6. Click Save.

You will then need to send the image to me - please PM me for details of where to send it to.

Now, the response from Estelle:

Dear Errol,

I reported this problem to our technical team this morning. One of my colleagues has since spent a great deal of time browsing the site and has been unable to replicate this problem at all.

It would be of a great help to us if you could send me some screenshots of the problems you have been experiencing. Do you know which advert was the problem? Please send any screenshots to me - my email address is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

The more information that is sent to us makes it easier for us to solve this. If the problem does lie with a particular advert then we can contact the advertising agency immediately.

We do appreciate your help with this and apologise for any upset it has caused.

Best regards,

Estelle

Well done Errol, think they may just be sitting up and taking notice at last.
Hopefully they are already onto their advertising agencies to get them to check out their adverts. Having had a look at the info about Expedia and Rhapsody, they looked like legit adverts but weren't.
It is too much of a coincidence that it isn't the ads on this site.
Maybe the only good that will come out of this is it will make peple more aware of the need for good security as it has exposed the weaknesses in some.
Sorry I can't help with any screenshots, I only had the one attempt to redirect, but nothing was downloaded and no warnings were flagged.

You have had plenty to get your teeth into over the last few days!!

Mandy in Wiltshire Report 1 Feb 2008 11:54

I went to open up GR and McAfee sent me an alert to say that they'd removed a trojan. Unfortunately, I closed the message box in order to access the site before I saw this thread, but if it should happen again I will take a screenshot to forward to you, Errol.

I know that the message contained the 'quinque..something' site that you mentioned in your other thread.

Thanks for going to the trouble of co-ordinating this.

Mandy :)

Hi Mandy, it tries or does redirect to the quinquecahue site, if you clear that cookie off and then come back on again it does the same.

Dea Report 1 Feb 2008 12:47

Over the time this has been happening, I keep getting an advert up for Hotels in various far-away resorts with strange-sounding names.

I am sorry but I don't know where this comes from or any details of it.

It does seem to come up around the same time though and only on this site!

If it comes up again, what details can I take from it which might help you track it?

Dea for starters do a screen shot as described above although I'm not convinced that it is a problem advert.

Dea

Dea Report 1 Feb 2008 12:55

I will do my best !

I really think this IS connected though as I never get adverts which come up like that and I know that the malware thing came up on top of it yesterday!

so basically what GR are saying is Errol can do even more work to find out where the problem lies...and send it to them on a plate!!!...or am I reading it wrong...I think not!!!

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 1 Feb 2008 13:05

Twinkly it was discussed between me and GR and we decided that this may be the best way to do it.

I also have been contacted by Estelle, a result after last night. Naturally they can't replicate it as one would expect they have a good heap of security.

I agree that if genes are dedicated to replicating it they should try with an ordinary computer.
