Am having real trouble locating my Grandfather on the 1911 census.

He was born in September 1903 and I can see records of him in Births, Deaths and Marriages but nowhere else.
I think he had a brother called Frank (Francis) maybe but nothing for him either.

Any advice please on where I go from here. The only thing I can see is I buy a copy of his birth certificate and try searching for his parents names.

Please give his full name, the birth records reference and ANY other information you have about him that might help us to look for him. Where did he live, what are his death registration references, who/where did he marry etc. all might help us to help you.

Do you know his actual DOB?

In the meantimes, have a look under the Search heading, top right of this page. Then Search all members trees. Input details and see if there are any other trees which show up with him in them. You can then try to contact the other tree holders - hope for replies but don't expect them. If folks haven't updated email addresses then GR won't be able to notify they have a message for them, people loose interest or can't reply etc.

His full name is John Henry Dowden. He was born at 3 Norfolk terrace, Shepherds Bush. Although that has since been renamed.
He was born 3rd September 1903. He married Gladys May Tobutt (13/05/1900) on 6/6/1925 and they lived at 5 Providence Place, since named Shepherds Bush place.
He passed away in Hammersmith Hospital 11/11/1980

I'm afraid I don't have any references other than what is shown here on this site.
