Someone has told me there is a donated record on Family Search for Humphrey Kennedy marrying Mary Brown in1866 Belfast.

I can't find it on Family Search, any ideas please. Where are donated records on there.

It's Mary Brown & Humphrey Kennedy 1866, Belfast, Antrim. It also gives her birthdate as 1845.
Just click on "advanced search" on first page the fill in both names, click on "marriage" and "Ireland".

Betty

It is a submitted record.

Have you tried Emerald Ancestors?

No, Betty I couldn't find it using Humphrey's name, either Carney or Kearney so I just used Mary Brown's name and the year 1866 in Ireland.

Hi Betty

I have had a quick look for you and the only Mary Brown marrying someone called Humphrey was a Humphrey Kennedy. The marriage took place in Belfast in 1866.

Sorry, if this isn't of any help

Hi Potty,

No I haven't as yet tried Emerald Ancestors because I am sitll trying to find their son Nicholas John Carney (hairdresser) who married Margaret Kennedy (my great grandparents) who in turn had my grandmother Mary Carney c1880.
I have a long way to go before I can search Humphrey and Mary Brown..

Hi Donna,

Yes that is the correct one, I don't know how you all managed that, must be because I put Humphrey's name in first, really appreciate everyone's help, thank you all.

Hi INas,

Thanks for those births but no sign of Margaret Kennedy (who would have been the sister of these two James Kennedy and Jane Kennedy) who married my great grandfather Nicholas John Carney though.

Hi INis,

Yes I know you did look before and thank you for that, but so strange that James and Jane births are there but Margaret Kennedy's isn't.

Hi INis,

Thank you for looking, why would that be that she isn't on Ancestry Ireland or Emerald Ancestors.

Does that mean I will never be able to find my Grandmother or her parents?? My Grandmother would have been born c1880.

Hi again INis,

No my grandmother was born in Belfast because she told my cousin who is a lot older than me that she came from Belfast to Glasgow/Lanark area with her parents and sisters. She met my grandfather in Glasgow as he was working in the mines there and they came back to Dundee and married in 1903. She also had a sister Catherine who married in Dundee in 1906.

Thanks Alviegirl,

So she died shortly after being born then, wondered why I hadn't found her in Scotland when the family came over here.
Appreciate your help!!

Betty

the statement your grandmother made about coming from Belfast to Scotland is not really definitive evidence that she was BORN in Belfast.

She could have been born elsewhere, and moved to Belfast while a small child.

We've all had plenty of these, ancestors who didn't know where they were born!

Hi Sylvia,

Thanks for your message, its just the family are in Antrim from early on up to 1900, all the births of the children have been there. I have information that her father still had a hairdressers shop in
Carney, N., hair dresser, 4 Short Strand, Ballymacarrett Road to Albert Bridge Road. He had several brothers also hairdressers as below.

Thos Carney, 21 Smithfield

Richd Carney, 21 Smithfield

I also found this in this Subject: CARNEY'S IN IRELAND 1891 IRISH PARLIAMENT PARTY

Clippings
BELFAST NATIONAL COMMITTEE IN SUSTAINMENT OF THE IRISH PARLIAMENTARY PARTY Morning News - 11 March, 1891

N J Carney, 16 Whitehall Court

Now that is Nicholas John Carney in 1891 after my grandmothers birth.
