Hi
Looking for John Harris and family.... Sorry but the only info I have is as follows....
JOHN HARRIS aged 32 of Million Taylor married GRACE MATTHEWS NEWLYN aged 22 on 1.7.1841 Million Church Avon.
Their daughter FRANCES MARY HARRIS was born 24.5.1853. She at some stage came to South Australia and married John Read in 1876
Was wondering if with this small amount of info it would be possible for some kind person to find the family in census records?
Would be much appreciated
Colleen (Australia)

Colleen,

Newlyn isn't Grace's surname, it's a village in Cornwall.

Births Sep 1851

Thanks Rose... looks like I've been sent down the wrong path. Evan the birth date of Frances looks like its wrong but according to her marriage record she was 23 in 1876 (who knows?)
Got something to work on now.
Thanks again
Colleen.

Hi Colleen,

Couldn't see them in 1861. Could be they had moved to Australia then?

Excuse my ignorance.
On the Australian marriages it gives parents names and where they come from.?

Does it give occupations? Could it be that Taylor is really his occupation (Tailor)

Colleen

Colleen Report 29 Feb 2008 01:46

Hi Margaret
On South Australian marriages it only gives
Names of bride and Groom, age, status, Fathers' names and place of marriage

Margaret
No I can't find them. All I know is that it would have been sometime between 1851when Frances was born and 1876 when she was married.
Her parents are buried here in South Australia so I presume they came out as a family.
I found Elizabeth Ann's marriage as well.
As Rose said.. they can't be found on 1861 census

Sorry Margaret
My mind is not working today. bit sluggish..not a good day..
Elizabeth was married 1865. So they would have arrived prior to that and after 1851.
