Hello Jeanette I know the maiden names are on the certificates, I'm talking about when they began to appear on the registers i.e. FreeBMD & 1837 online. Therefore enabling people to confirm parentage (mother as well as father) without having to get a certificate. Up until 1911/12 all you got was a surname, christian name and any middle initials and the place of birth on the registers, after that you will see the mothers maiden name too. Sam
