Sam, If you are 'in' Burslem could you please keep a look out for Thomas Rigb(e)y who according to his 1854 marriage cert was born Burslem c1832. His address on his marriage was 111 Hanover St, but I am not sure if that is B'lem or not. Thankyou. Hilary. |

Hello, Sam. I have a marriage cert for Susan/Susannah Griffiths born 1836 in Stourbridge, Worcester and it lists her father as John Griffiths, carpenter. The marriage was in June 1856 in St George's Church, Wolverhampton, Stafford and at the time, Susan was living at St James's Square. (wolverhampton?) Her first child was born in Dudley. I would love to find the family and wonder if you would do a search for me for Susan or John Griffiths. In 1851 Susan would have been 14/15. TIA Audrey |

Hi Sam Could I request a look-up for Robert BRIAN, a butcher, in Longdon, Staffs. Don't have his family I'm afraid, but he should be married and may have children. Many thanks, Barbara |

Hi Michelle, No probs, I still have some of my family to find in Burslem so I can have a look to see if I can find yours at the same time. It's a very labourious task with no index so hopefully will find some time to have a look for you Sunday if that's ok. Sam |

Hi Sam Not sure if you will be able to help on this one, but here goes...I am trying to find my 3xGreat Grandparents, Joseph & Mary Careless. On the 1841 census they were living at The Green, Darlaston (the one now in West Midlands). Ages 50 & 45 (rounded up), both born STS and Joseph shown as Labourer. Someone checked out the area around Darlaston on the 1851 for me but could not find them and I don't know where they went after 1841. I believe their son Joseph was baptised in Bilston in 1820. Not much to go on, I know, but any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Ann |

Nichola - I have found a couple of families that could be ROBERTS in Hartshill (handwriting is rubbish and very hard to read!!) these are John, head, 62 / Mary, wife, 66/ Eliza, daughter, 17 - OR - John, 24, Head / Jane, 21, wife / William, son, 11 mths. They are listed net to each other on the census so possibly living next door and related? No addresses given, just Hartshill. If you want the image, let me have your email address. Louise - I have searched Burslem but can't find Reid Street. I have checked my A-Z and it is still there now (if it is the same one...) but in 1851 I can find the surrounding streets but not Reid Street. I'm going a bit cross eyed at the moment so will look again another day but at the moment I can't find it. Sorry. Sam |

Hi Ken - sorry, I have searched Uttoxeter but am unable to find Charles Ward. Nichola - Haven't looked yet, will probably have alook tomorrow for ROBERTS. Barbara - again, sorry I was unable to find anything. i did check Stafford but not Stafford Jail, Workhouse or Hospital (these were very difficult to read). The only James Simpson I found was a fish monger aged 48. Shirley - Unfortunately my discs only cover North Staffs, they don't go down as far as Tipton or West Brom. Sam |

May I request a look-up for Stafford itself please on 1851 census for Staffordshire? Hopefully living in Stafford. James SIMPSON, occup. cordwainer. Possibly in his 40s. + wife and possibly children at home. His wife could be Jane. Sorry I don't have any other info. Many thanks if you are able to look. I realise the info I have is very vague.
