How about this? Your grandma may have had a London accent??? Could Autry actually be Hawtrey?? Sir Charles (1858-1923) and Lady Katherine Elsie Hawtrey were in the Theatre (the Charles Hawtrey of Carry-On fame took his stage name from Sir Charles - they are not related). Anyway, there are lots of sites about Sir Charles Hawtrey, one with a photo for you to compare is: http://www.oliveweb.clara.net/clark-hogg/ch-gallery-hawtrey-charles.htm I have his obit fromThe Times if this is the right chap. Even if it isn't the right man, I am pleased as the obit tells me his bro-in-law was a man my gran had a ''dalliance'' with lol - I never knew that!!! What a co-incidence! Happy Hunting MMM |

Karen, If you have got the correct spelling,,,,,,if you can visit a local Record Office or Archive,,,and look in Burks Peerage Books simular to Whos Who,,,perhaps they like people of their stature only used the London address on occasions,,,,,and had their home else where. If it is still an on going family name,,then they could be listed in Whos Who and copies of these are kept in the Reference Section of a good Library, Kay, Googling the name didnt bring any results> |
