Hi I can not spot him on free BMD or LDS have also looked on Family History online and nothing - I suspect he died and that's why the younger children were living with there brothers and not just down as visitors. Have you just searched on the free sites for a death cert, I think the only complete one is the 1837 site and I no longer have any credits for that. No, tell a lie, I think that Family relatives site is complete and for that I think you just have to type in a name and it will bring up the possible matches rather than you sit through pages of info - I might be wrong, I'm sure someone will point out if I am. If he was alive on the 1901 - Make a note of all the spelling variations used for the surname to try - looks like he was born in Watton and not as you first thought, clenchwarton. I think that if you can convince your hubby to about a crimbo sub to Ancestry it would be worth your while. I cant put all the info up but there is quite alot on the Mattless/Matless etc etc etc from the Wisbeach/West Norfolk area - the fens. Sorry that I was unable to find him - If I get a chance I shall take another look tommorow .....ergh today actually. Oh well off to bed. Pen x
