Plaistow is too far away, its about 10 miles away, Grays, Romford, Hornchurch, Ockenden are all neighbouring each other |

The births on Ancestry do not include JAS 1897.......I've looked on 1837. There is no birth registered in that quarter for William G Kirby ...........anywhere! Reg |

Jenny I know you say the death cert gives his birthplace as Grays.....but that is because the person who was the 'informant' gave those details. Unless he or she had access to the birth cert, it could be that he/she was only relaying info passed down by someone else.......so there is room for error. The same applies to the date of birth.......... Reg |

You need a lot of determination with family history - but by god if you find that entry you will get a tremendous buzz - especially if you found it yourself. Good Luck! Cheers, Horatia |

I wonder if he was mistakenly registered as Kerby or Kerbey? Have you checked on the FREE BMD indexes on Ancestry they cover 1837 - 1983. Cheers, Horatia |
