1841 Combe Martin - The image is very feint, but it looks like Robert was a tailor.

1851 the family with Robert and Catherine as parents are in Combe Martin in 1851 - but it appears that William Parkhouse is not! William changes his birth place in every census I have for him. 1871 says Bristol, 1881nsays Carmarthenshire, Wales 1891 says Combe Martin, Devon. William married Elizabeth Butler in North Devon as she cam from Berrynabour which is next door to Combe Martin and Combe Martin could look like Carmarthenshire. Many thanks, Leanne.

Great - so we have the right family in 41 and 51 but no William in 1851! Do you know what job he had in any of the other census'? Nicky.x.

All say General Labourer. But why change his place of birth? But I am sure this is the right place of birth. As he married here , his wife came from here and Carmarthenshire could look like Combe Martin, what do you think? Leanne.

Could William be staying with relatives? He was only 11 in 1851. Do you know his mother's maiden name? He may be listed under the wrong name by mistake.

What's strange is that is lists 4 children for Robert and CAtherine - but no Wm listed. Only Sarah ANn Lydia, Elizabeth, Mary Ann. Peculiar!
