Find Ancestors

Im after an Edward Coggins (b 1838 Tysoe, Warwickshire. m 1967 Shotteswell, Warwickshire) with his wife Edith (b 1841 Shotteswell) and children Emma (1867 warmington, warwickshire) and possibily the wifes illigitamate children Barnes? (1962 shotteswell), Mary (1865 shotteswell), Afred (1866 shotteswell). Im trying to prove the existance of the illigitament children really and there names. I have their other children from the 1881. I had my youngest son in the summer of 1976 which was as hot (if not hotter) than this year so I know how you are feeling. Thanks, Edward was married before Edith, but that wife died prior to the 1871. So wondering whether Ediths illigitamate children show up with the new couple in 1871 census. I presume there not his children, because he was still with his first wife when they were born. They would have only been 9, 6 and 5 when the 1871 census came out though, so i presume they still lived with there mother and her new husband at that time. They'd obviously gone off on there own by the time the next census (1881 came out). Any one find them for me? Thanks,

Barnes is a possible first name for one of the children, not a surname. Someone else has them one there tree as her illegitimate children, but i dont know how they got there information. I only knew of one illegitimate child (Alfred 1866). I was trying to prove whether they were right about the others (Barnes 1862, Mary 1865). I thought the 1871 would be the best place to start. So you have no first-hand knowledge of Edith's children....is that right? She should, presumably, appear on 1861 under the name Sharman............or had she perhaps also been married before? If you haven't got the marriage cert, I think you may find it very helpful, as it would give you father's details, at least............. Reg

Sorry Reg, Couldnt tell you where he was in the 1861, this is what i have: Edward Coggins (1838 Radway/Tysoe, Warwickshire): Married Elizabeth Attwood (b 1841? d 1866) in 1862 and had 1) Sarah Ann Coggins (b 1863 Warmington, Warks) 2) Emma Elizabeth Coggins (b 1866 Warmington, Warks) Married Edith Sharman (b 1841? d 1902) in 1967 and had 1) Emma Coggins (b 1868 Warmington, Warks) 2) Mary Jane Coggins (b 1872 Warmington, Warks) 3) James Coggins (b 1875 Warmington, Warks) But Edith apprently had: 1) Barnes Sharman (b 1862 Shotteswell, Warks) 2) Mary Sharman (b 1865 Shotteswell, Warks) 3) Alfred Sharman (b 1866 Shotteswell, Warks) These are the ones i'd like to find / prove. So it looks like the children do exist there just all missing on the 1871 for some reason. Perhaps they were with her parents instead of living with the new father in law. But that does explain why he cant be found either. Thanks all,

Julie, Thats confusing because this other persons tree has Alfred down as marrying a Martha Underhill (1867) and having William (1890), Walter (1893) and Edith (c1895). There completly different from those you got. He thinks he married Martha and the children were born in Coventry, Warwickshire. x
