Ann Report 8 Aug 2006 14:53

Hello all, im wondering if someone can help me i have researched most of my tree and found most of them but im still missing information on Magaret Norman and Robert Norman both born between 1910-1932 (potter is mothers maiden name) i have searched all the BMD's and can not trace them at all they were born in West Ham, Essex County or Middlesex County. Thank you in advance Ann

When you say you have searched all bmd's, can we take it that you have viewed the records for every quarter in the years you quote? Reg

If you really have checked over 20 years worth of index pages (at 4 quarters per year that's over 100 pages) and they aren't there, I can only suggest that either they were registered under a different name, or in a different area from the one you expected. Nell

Would the 'missing' two be the eldest? If so, could they be registered as Potter? Do you have the marriage ref for the parents? Just a thought................ Reg

Roughly when do you think the photos were taken and how old did they look? A child born 1910 would be 22 years older than one born 1932.

Unknown Report 8 Aug 2006 15:05

If the parents married in 1913, any children born before that would be registered under mother's maiden name, I guess. nell

OK How many children do you know of - and when were they all born? You say Ronald was the last born - when and where was that?

Ann Report 8 Aug 2006 15:08

No there not my mothers siblings they are her Aunts and Uncles, the pic that we had was taken when my mum was in her early 20's so around 1970.

Ann Report 8 Aug 2006 15:10

The last child was born in 1932 in the 1st Q his name was Ronald Archibald Norman. The first child that i found was Rose Norman 1914, then Joseph R born 1920, then William Charles in 1922 (this was my grandfather). They were all register under West HAm East London.

so you have Rose Norman 1914 Joseph R 1920 William Charles 1922 Ronald Archibald Norman 1932 all registered in West Ham. My guess is that Rose would be the eldest, born a year after the marriage which is fairly usual. There's a gap between Rose and Joseph which is probably because dad was away during WW1. But there's 10 years between Wiliam and Ronald, so I think it most likely that the missing children were born then. As all the others were registered in West Ham, I think its most likely these two were as well. When you checked the index pages did you include any 'male' or 'female' births without any first names, and scroll down to check any added entries at the bottom of the page? nell

Hi Nell Yep i checked all the page and checked the where they have just Female/Male and i could not see them. Im at a loss as my Mother knew them growing up and even went on holiday with one in the late1960's Ann

I know this sounds daft, but how certain are you that these two are siblings of your grandfather? Maybe they were cousins? Have you got no one in the family you can ask for further info?
