Morning Lynn, We really are in the same boat going just by family recollections told to them years ago. I think if there was an accident and if full details of John Morton were not known at the time by the informant of the death then it could be very costly for you to trawl through ScotlandsPeople to get the right death cert. His age could be assumed, you may not have the right parents names...or no parents at all listed...I've got one of those certs where it tells you nothing more than you already knew...very frustrating..lol! If I were in your position I'd be inclined to get in contact with the North Ayrshire Library, email address was in an earlier reply of mine, as they will do a very thorough search for £15.00......money which could be easily lost on a few incorrect searches on ScotlandsPeople....as I've found out in the past. That £15.00 covers one family name, so you could give the siblings details as that may provide a lead for them. When I wrote to them, as I have several brickwalls in the Saltcoats area, they confirmed that they will look at local papers and 'any other records deemed appropriate to the search'. I'm just working out which one to go for first...OH would go loopy if I sent a bulk cheque....little & often me thinks! Wishing you lots of luck. Donna x
