Hi there, Looking for the parents of William Ross born c. 1790 in Whitekirk East Lothian. Possibility his father was a James Ross. If someone could help me that would be great. Many thanks. Sylvia

Hi Sylvia, Where did you find that birth, I have search the parish registers on Scotlands People but could not find it. Many other birth for that name but not it the area you said East Lothian. Betty

Hi Betty, Oh dear, maybe barking up the wrong tree. I'm looking for William Ross who married Margaret Millar 14 March 1809 in Coldingham, Berwick Scotland. They had most of their children in Whitekirk East Lothian, so maybe I've made the wrong assumption. Could you look perhaps in Berwick area please. Thank you Sylvia

Hi Sylvia, Could be the marriage was not registered on Scotlands people these are just parish registers. Where did you find your information then. How do you know the date of the marriage? Betty

Hi Betty, I got that info. from someone else on Genes Reunited Community Records section back in March this year. That marriage is also on the IGI and links in with the naming system for the children. Regards Sylvia

Hi Betty, Yes, that's the marriage. I suppose it was a pure guess on my part, given that the children were born in that area. I'm trying to find out William's parents and/or siblings please. Thank you. Sylvia

On IGI there are 46 William Ross born in 1790, I don't know how many there will be on Scotlands people but without the area he was born in I don't have a chance of finding him. Does the marriage certificate say where he was born?? Betty

Hi again, Again, I got that info. from somebody on the Community board. Red herring obviously. Oh dear I am now lost. Anyway, they had my greatgreatgrandfather James Ross, born c. 1812 in East Lothian (among other siblings). Regards Sylvia

Hi Sylvia, Do you have this James Ross or William Ross parents names?? there are just too many of both these names born that year in Scotland. Or in James Ross then Williams father, if so do you have his mothers name. Maybe the people who searched this had BVRI discs Betty
