Hi Tina, Sorry I couldn't find John in 1901. Seems to be quite well hidden, hopefully the 1911 when it is released in 2012 will shed some light. You could always visit or contact the Lancashire Archives and see if they have anything in the work house records that could help you. Regards Fiona.

Just looked at Bury Union Workhouse and he's not the on the 1901 census. It would seem that John William and Lucy have a son John of their own, not your John. Do you have your dads parents in 1901? Regards Fiona.

Hi Tina, If the father William was deceased at the time of birth it might be that Harriett remarried by 1901 and her and the children might be using the second husbands name. There is this William and Harriett in 1891, just going to look a bit farther and see if I can find them in 1901 or a possible death. Reply received from tiny: sam the copy is real . issued for the purpose of the factory and workshop act 1901 . we knew john willie olive and this he said was him .he also remembered going in the work house aged about 5/6 . he was bought out of the work house my my dads mothers mother for £10 . he said he had 2 older brothers who went to another workhouse as the were older and could go to work Hope you don't mind me posting this here but it will help anyone else who is trying to help. What is the date of birth on the certificate your mum has? I would say that we are definately talking about 2 different people here. Sam x
