Hi
A certain George Venner of Bethersdon was an edge toolmaker (a blacksmith specialising in edged tools such as axes and billhooks) he was working approx 1878 to 1899. His tools were marked GV Bethersdon...
I have been informed of another makers who marked his tools HV - did George have a father, uncle or brother with these initials??? Often specialised trades like this ran in families - the trade largely died out after WW1, when mass produced tools flooded the market..

Hi! We are the Folkestone Venners. My Husband Rowland's father was George William Venner of Bethersden, Kent. His grandfather was George Venner of Beckley and his grandmother was Susan Carter of Northiam. His great-grandparents were John Venner and Harriet Smith of Beckley.
